In my spare time since this weekend, I've been making these. I got the idea for these projects on this blog and this one.So on Friday I started a search for wooden hangers. I asked on Freecycle and got a few. Also on Freecycle I got a big bag full of blanket batting remnants. PERFECT for this type of project! I cannot find the wooden hangers, at least not the ones that I want, in the stores. Don't they make them like this anymore?
Anyways....
Project #1 - padded hanger
This will take at least one more attempt before I perfect this style. And I need more hangers... I'm thinking about possible Christmas presents and Etsy stuff. Don't you think this would make a nice wedding gift or some other special occasion?

Project #2 - fabric bead necklace
Apparently these are very in-trend right now. A necklace similar will cost around $48 at Anthropology.
The first one, I made for Meri. Today is the 2nd day in a row that she's worn it to school. Apparently yesterday she got positive comments from everyone on it, including boys... Not sure I want them looking at that part of her all that much... Next time it will be a choker. Or better yet, a hair band!
Oh yeah - that's makeup!

It's clever and oh so easy....why in the world would anyone pay $45 for it?lol
ReplyDeleteI think the addition of something to keep the poofies from fraying might be a good thing too....fray check anyone?lol...or is the fraying thing part of the charm? Ya see how out of the fashion world I am?lolol
How crafty you are! The necklaces are so cute! Don't be surprised if you don't start getting orders from Meri's friends.
ReplyDeleteLOL hairband!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the last one, its beautiful. I just love earth tones. You are very talented!
Padded hangers are IMPOSSIBLE to find these days unless you buy lingerie or something.

Both were cute! Hope you do well on etsy!
ReplyDeleteThose are adorable but it should be chokers all the way. :)
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of when some guys told my daughter she had a cute butt. I was thinking, "Do NOT look there!"
Good luck on Etsy!
