Labor in Iowa

My SIL has nieces weekend as often as she can get these girls together.  Usually once every month or so.

She lives in KC, but decided to have it in Iowa this past weekend because her brother's house was available. So SNAP THAT UP!!!  It wasn't ours.

However, since they were in Iowa, they brought some steaks up to our house on Saturday night and we had super secret steak night!

And a fire!

The fire burned well on the little branches we had picked up from our cut down tree, but when it came to the log we put on, it was a bust.  We got more burn from the rubbing alcohol the girls threw on it.

But then we just smelled all medicinal...

Leon had a blast, but it was difficult to keep his excited little butt away from the fire.  Instead of going AROUND the chairs, he routinely ran across next to it to get to someone.

SIT DOWN!!!  Sarah was put in charge of him.

He told a scary ghost story about a scary scary house in the night and it had a dark dark kitchen with scary scary food.  I've got it recorded on my camera but the picture was terrible.  I'll make a slideshow sometime and use that for the background music.  Hilarious!  And he knew it...

The girls stayed late and then headed back to the BIL's for the rest of their Labor Day, Niece's weekend.  Which consisted of facials, shopping, cooking, talking, spa stuff and lots of laughter and napping.

I worked for a few hours on Monday morning and finally my girls got back by noon.  We had a nice lunch out at the HuHot with the older one.  The younger had to work.
Apparently Mongols don't celebrate Labor Day.

Ryan got home later that day with Jen in tow and we had a great family dinner with all my kiddles at the same table for once in a long long while!

Robb forgot that sometimes I like to feel domesticated because I made lasagna and bread for dinner.  I do like to cook big meals, but sometimes life just gets so busy!

Then we kicked Maddy to the curb and she texted me when she got back to the dorm late that night.

So another Labor Day is over.
We're looking forward to a few more weeks when Maddy comes home for her birthday weekend!

Sounds like fun! There is nothing, and I mean nothing, like having the whole family gathered around the dinner table. It's home.
