Already Acclimated

YAY!  We got one of the cars back yesterday!  The other one is going to take longer.

Last night, we had a personal pan pizza night.  I had a bunch of mini pizza crusts in the freezer, but didn't think it would be enough for everyone.  It wasn't.  So I'd made two more batches of pizza dough in the bread machines, cut them into 12 sections and fried them all up on the stove.

Meri came over  and we all made our own personal pan pizzas. We thought Shub was coming over too, but he had to work. bummer.

So pepperoni, hamburger and sausage pizzas as well as a turkey Alfredo for my MIL.  We made 15 pizzas.  6 on the first pan so everyone would have something to eat for the first round, then 6 on another and then 3 on the last one.

Got a DUO call from Maddy around 8:30ish and it felt like she was home again!  The kids used to climb on our bed in the early mornings, mostly weekends, and just chit chat.
So yes.  We were in bed at 8:30...

This time next week, it'll be 9:30, so I'm just already acclimated to the new time.  I don't think I ever recovered since the last time change...  Neither did my office clock...

Looking forward to some yard work and some sewing this weekend.  I saw a Youtube video on how to make easy leggings for toddlers and you can use the same method for adult leggings.  It's basically the same way that I make them, except you can use the serger for every step instead of taping the hems and being extra careful on the waistband.  Woohoo!  I'm looking forward to being RECKLESS! and dressed.

I'm also getting a bit sick of the church clothes that I've got so I may make myself a new skirt.  I'm SURE the other church ladies are looking at my clothes and saying, "Oh yeah, it's the purple striped skirt... Haven't we seen a LOT of that?"  Actually I'm pretty sure they don't keep track or care... ;)

In MY mind, I'm saying that exact same thing about myself.  and adding the sentence, "Hmmm  Val really needs to shave her legs too... ewww..."

Have a wonderful weekend!!  It'll be in the 50s here!

Will be digging in my closet for shorts later today.

Boys and Sewing

After school, Leon RAN up to the friend on the left's house and begged him to come play.  On the way back, friend on the right, was sitting in his mom's car while she got the mail and left said car to chase after the boys.  I said, "Does your mom know you came over?"  "I yelled to her that I was."
His mom walked across the street and made sure that was ok.  Also dropping off an allergy pen.

These boys watched Leon play a game for a while, then the left one had to leave at 5.  I don't know what it is about boys and watching other people play games...  I'd keep saying, "When is MY turn?!"  They didn't.

After Jackson left, Leon and Bentley played swords outside, inside, hitting things until they realized I was making homemade pizza for supper.  Leon bragged that I make the BEST!!  I've never heard him say that before!  And he asked if Bentley could stay for supper.

Well, Bentley is allergic to peanut butter and who knows what else.  So I was apprehensive, but after they got permission from his mom, I made a section of the pizza to just be cheese as he didn't like the other things I was putting on it.

Looks like I'll be the Kool-aid Grandma this summer!  I'm ok with that.
Mental note: buy Kool-aid.

Also yesterday, I made two of these bags.  I wanted something cheap and easy to make for graduation gifts.  And look!  I'm going with a theme!  The theme is this.
"Use up what I have."

And I had some odds and ends of the map fabric.  I cut them into strips this way or that and put them onto the very thin black lining fabric.  They won't last TOO long, but hey, they're cute.  I sent Meri the above pic and she said, CUTE and then asked what it was for.
Ummmm  we talked about this...  Oh yeah...

So we've gotten several invites for her friends parties and I'll be taking these.  IF I get them all done.  We'll see.  If she's going to parties and I wasn't invited, then her presence can be the actual present.  I don't feel obligated about those.

I attended two already last weekend but we had some Amazon gift cards to tuck into the cards as these hadn't been started yet.

I'll write up something to tuck inside, like "Let this help you as you plot out your future."  or something corny like that.

Any suggestions?

Focus on Important Things

Well... we've gained another dog overnight.  This one used to live with us, and has forgotten what house trained means...  So we're doing frequent trips outside with her.  I think it's only temporary.

On a totally unrelated note, Leon is here for the weekend again! YAY!  Ok... it might be related.
What a crazy world we live in...

I've decided we're having homemade pizza tonight.  Haven't done that in a while and it's Friday for goodness sakes!  And the boy is home. :)

I'm hoping to fit in an hour or so of sewing tonight so I have SOMETHING to take to my meeting tomorrow.

Ok, I'm done being boring...

Oh!  Did I tell you what I got from my Sweetheart on Valentine's Day?

Isn't it gorgeous??!  From an Irish woolen mill!  And I love it!!

Ok, back to focus.
Have a wonderful weekend and fill me in on Monday with what you've been up to!

Turkey Pizza

Who's hungry?
These are two of the three pizzas I made on Friday night.  Pepperoni and Chicken Elfredo.

I'm pretty sure I didn't do the elfredo one right, but oh well...

I was just browsing back through my photos to see if there was anything I could blog about today and came across these.  Forgot.

I also found a video of Leon doing a Jim Gaffigan joke.
The real joke.
Jim: (normal voice) Pig roasts, you know?
Pig roasts, they always have that pig head sitting there.
Which is sad cause you can tell they killed the pig when it was eating an apple.
(high pitched voice) hey pig you want an apple?
>>yeah sure what are you doin with that…OWW..
(normal voice) mid bite every time.
Matthew is a huge Gaffigan fan and taught it to Leon.  Leon was pretty good!
SUUURE!  Hey!  Whatchu doin with that spear?

But now he's come up with his own variation when he doesn't want to cooperate.

Slipping past Thursday

Oh, there's more where this came from!!!  We're in Iowa.  Of course there is!  Just don't know when yet.  Got this and a nice layer of ice underneath last night.  And due to this a lot of foolishness went on last night as well...  I won't get into this here, but it will involve a lawyer I'm sure.

Last night, we cleaned house and made pizza crusts in preparation for tonight.  There are 3 round ones and a deep dish crust precooked and ready for toppings. We're expecting our twin nieces and their boyfriends for dinner.  We haven't met one of them yet, so we're pre-screening for their dad.

Now where did I put that "So you want to date my daughter" application??  Might have to change a few "daughter"s to "niece"...

Apparently the boys will be going to Thanksgiving with them and meeting the folks!  Eh, if he doesn't break up with her after meeting us, then maybe he's a keeper!

It's happened...  Not with this niece but with a cousin.  His girlfriend actually broke up with him on the way home from our house!  It wasn't actually our fault, but we made a point to not meet his fiance a few years later until the wedding reception.

Got our first and probably only Thanksgiving Day card in the mail yesterday!  Our life insurance guy likes us...  AND our first of many Christmas card!!  The sender of which is really ambitious...

And here I am wondering if we have anything to write about for a Christmas letter??

Who am I kidding!?

fRandom fRiday

The Random Number Generator says 6

I must, according to the rules of fRandom Friday, which I seldom do (unless I have absolutely NOTHING else to talk about)... come up with 6 random things today.

It's OUR law.

1.
I have an Air Conditioner/heater/dehumidifier unit in my office.  It's off this week because I can't decide if I'm cold or hot.  So I guess the temp is ok in here right now...  But the "Water Full" light has been flashing for 3 days and there is no water in the dehumidifier container built into it's side.  I think it needs maintenance.  Oh well... I don't need it right now anyway.

2.
Leon is at a babysitter for his 3rd day in a row.  He didn't pitch a fit this morning when Meri and I dropped him off.  Not sure if I should be thankful or crying that he's ok that Grandma is leaving him again...  I'm sure he'll miss me later!

3.
Homemade pizza for supper!!!  Got the bread machines, cheese, spices, hamburger and pepperoni...  Just need the pizza sauce.  Anyone have any good recipes for pizza sauce?  Or should I just have hubs pick some up on the way home?
This is immediately following an oven cleaning where I popped the pizza stone in to to get cleaned up.  And WOW!  Doesn't it look like brand new?  To see the before and after pic, click HERE.  Pay no attention to the oven as it needs to get wiped out after the oven cleaning in this picture...

4.
The house is quiet with Leon not here.  I actually got some laundry done over my lunches the past few days...

5.
Ladies church cleaning day tomorrow.  Should be fun!  Then relax the only way I know how...  Organizing my sewing stuff and starting on a new project!

6.
Our lawn mower is still sitting in the backyard.  I hope things dry up enough today to get it up the hill and put away in the garage.  The grass underneath it is probably dead by now...  Stupid lawn mower.
