Uggg! My life is a dusty dusty mess! To the right is my floor before I started anything. This wasn't the worst of it and the picture isn't really up close.
Here you can see the before floor on the left and the "just after coarse" sandpaper on the right. It was amazing to feel the difference between the different types of sandpaper each time I ran the floor sander over it. Our floor was only a few years old when we bought the house, but between 3 kids, 3 dogs, 11 years of hard use and various other catastrophes, the floor was totally chewed up, as you can see...
After the fine sanding, a fine fine mist of dust settled everywhere in our house. All the glassware from our hutch is on the dining room table in our living room currently, looking like an antique mall attacked... The dust has settled into every dish, cup and saucer, as well as every drawer in the kitchen... Now I'll be starting on the edging of the room. After a quick tutorial on how to use it from my dad, I'll get to work on that tonight.
With any luck, I'll be out of my "graduation mode", as my kids put it by May... My son got his Senior pictures taken on Saturday morning, in the middle of my sanding frenzy. He needed a couple things ironed, so I took them from him to do it. I didn't realize I was covered with saw dust and got it all over his clothes. I went to the picture shoot with him armed with a lint roller. Then hustled back home to finish the last 2 sanding runs before we had to get the sander back.
It's been a rush this weekend! I hope I get this thing done soon. I miss lounging on the couch. It's currently buried under chairs.
Wish me luck!
