St. Patrick's Day with the band was a very good time! I enjoyed all the old songs and the funny thing is, I don't need to wear ear plugs anymore... Probably the only good thing with going partially deaf...
My 17 year old son went along as he has for the last 4 years and has earned the title of Robb's roadie, carrying his bagpipe from one gig to the next for him. It makes the other pipers a little jealous because they didn't bring one... We might have to cut this out next year, as the manager at one pub offered Ryan a free beer because he was with the band... Of course, we turned them down... but I guess he looks older than 17...
I drove the whole afternoon because Robb doesn't like to drive in his kilt. At the end of the day, we came away with plenty of flashing shamrock rings and necklaces sporting a beer company of one kind or another. The girls loved them when we got home.
We stopped at Great Plains Sauce & Dough for pizza on the way home. The best pizza in Iowa, it says so on their billboard! And wow, is it good. One piece fills you up and each piece probably has 1 lb of cheese on it alone! So not exactly "diet food" unless you're on a high carb, high protein, bring a plunger diet.
Below is the link for part of one of the songs at Flanigans pub in Des Moines. Enjoy!
