Sorting, Cleaning & Pitching! Oh MY!

Well - my crafty stash table (free from freecycle) is getting sorted... finally... Not really sorted the way I want it, but then again, I've only got 2.3 weeks left until the graduation party, so I'm not going to be too picky picky.I'm putting all the photos and scrappy things that have to get in scrapbooks in one "big" box and my sewing items in another. My sewing "stash" of fabric will have to get packed away until after the party, then I need to do some serious cataloging of what I've got. Does anyone have a good way to do that? Rather than rummaging through boxes of fabric in the garage when I need inspiration for a sewing project? I'm afraid of spiders... I've got tons of patterns and they're sitting in the garage too until a sewing mood strikes me, then the boxes are brought in and spread out on the diningroom table for perusal.Oh well... Time for that later. For now, I need to make it look tidy and organized for when our house is totally full of people who don't know how we really live...

Now that Ryan is done with his schoolwork and has been fired from his job for flirting with a too-young but looks older customer, he's got tons of time to do some odd jobs around the house while I work in my office during the days. I'm only able to work inside over lunches, evenings and weekends. Of course, I just sent him to clean out the garage fridge and I'm hearing guitar strumming from above my office right now. Sure it sounds good... but the fridge isn't cleaning itself and he just went inside for a jacket. arggghhh... I'll call his cell phone in 5 minutes to remind him...

Yesterday he climbed up on the kitchen counters and brought down everything we'd tossed up on top of the cabinets over the course of the last several years. It is starting to look great in the kitchen. He left the junk on the counters for me to sort thru when I came in from work last night. Oh my! We had tons of stuff up there. Toy squirt guns that the kids fought over many moons ago, so we tossed them out of sight; books we'd banned; jewelry we didn't approve of; canning jars that had just gotten emptied and cleaned; large serving bowls that the kids didn't know what to do with; foil pans; birthday plates (new in package); plastic coconut cups; empty boxes of 100 calorie bars; empty international coffee tins being saved for "something"; an unopened bottle of Dandelion wine; 3 Senior Citizen canes; and tons and tons of dust. I'll clean the dust out over my lunch and then try to keep people from tossing things up there. Here's what it looks like now before the dusting... I suddenly feel a very short 5'11". I don't know why. When the counters are all cleaned off and unnecessary appliances get put away, I feel very tall. It's a relative thing I'm sure. Either that, or I'm nuts...

This is why we are having the graduation party at a park (in the shelter house we rented.) I can't imagine getting this house cleaned and organized enough to have it here!!

Can you believe this was Robb's idea? When I get to do most of the work? Yes?
Good idea on the park!

That first pick looks a lot like the addition we added on. Just imagine, 400 sq ft. of it! Thanks for the comment--trying to figure out where in Iowa you are?
