Besides having our Saviour give his life to take away all the sins of the whole world... Chili dogs are on special at Dairy Queen!!!
We'll be heading to Good Friday Tenebrae service tonight. If you haven't been to one before, they are very somber. With each section of the Bible reading, the lights get lower and lower until it's just candle light at the end of the service. At the very end of the service, our pastor slams the huge Bible shut and blows out the last candle. Everyone files out, gets in their cars and go home without talking to anyone.
Of course the first time we attended this Good Friday service, my whole family jumped two feet off the pew when he slammed the Bible shut and then it felt so odd to walk out and not touch someone's arm to say Hello or discuss the Easter breakfast... I guess we can email them later...
My friend Mike, told us that when his boys were little, he would shush them when they started talking in the car on the way home. Telling them that they weren't far enough away from church to talk yet. That worked the first year... The next year, the boys were older and wiser and read the bulletin. "silence until you get in your car." Well... Mike enjoyed that one car ride in peace and quiet anyhow.
And since the Dairy Queen has that special around here every year, we make the most of it and come home for a bedtime snack of chili dogs!
Have a Good and Great Friday! And a blessed Easter!

I love DQ Chili Dogs....yum! Too bad I can't eat them anymore without severe heartburn repercussions! It sounds wrong to say enjoy the Tennebrae service, but I know it always one of our favorite services each year. Certainly memorable!
Have a Happy Easter!
