On Sunday night, we drove with the kids an hour away to the last drive-in in Iowa. They were pumped! We were going to see the 2nd Night at the Museum. My youngest two had never been to a drive-in before this side of the womb...
So on Sunday early evening, I made 4 batches of microwave popcorn, melted 2 cubes of butter to drizzle over it... (the diet doesn't start until Thursday - first day of no school), made some caramel rice crispy bars, loaded a small cooler with pop and koolaide drinks and we took off.
The Garmin got us there 10 minutes after it started. darn. But as we pulled in, we saw that cars were being turned away. Apparently the drive-in was completely full! No more room for cars. We were offered the opportunity to park our car outside the drive in the 100 other cars, walk in and sit on the ground.... yeah right...
We turned around and left. No sense paying full price per person to sit on the ground. We did bring lawn chairs, but still.... With the 100 cars parked around, there wouldn't be room to sit together.
Meri was mad... I'm thinking that we named the girls wrong.. Maddy & Meri. hmmm..
She sat in the way back fuming through her 'tude snarfing buttery, salty popcorn and Robb promised that we'd stop at the next Walmart and buy them a movie to watch in the car on the way home. So after 30 minutes agonizing at Walmart (I kid you not! It was 10:30pm before we left Walmart) the kids started the movie, The Pink Panther with Beyonce. Another 45 minutes and we were home. So they didn't even watch all of it.
Oh well... There's always this weekends jaunt to Chicago...
We finally saw Night at the Museum last night. I kind of liked it better than the first one... The bit with Amelia Earhardt tho was a little confusing... Oh well. Don't worry - that won't wreck the movie for you... It was a lot of fun!

Hank Azaria was awesome! That Darth Vader scene cracked me up!
No kidding! And I LOVED Hank Azaria's slight speech impediment! How can you be taken seriously as a world dominator when you sound like that?!
