Pillowcase fight!

On Saturday, I took my 2 girls and a fellow 4H girl to my "militant" sewing group workshop. We made 240 pillowcases for the nearby Ronald McDonald Children's Hospital. The hospital has a tradition that each child that stays there gets to pick out their very own pillowcase and take it home with them when they leave. Well, my little group only made 11, but the other women that were there cranked out the difference! A huge pile of them crowded a couch.

The girls are using this opportunity to learn how to make them so they can make at least a set for the 4H county fair. Plus they got citizenship hours for high school and 4H.

They were having such a good time dinging the bell when they completed one and hearing everyone cheer for them. There must have been 30 other women there with a few teenagers besides my kids.

So these pictures will probably be gracing their 4H folders accompanying their projects. Meri got pretty cranky towards the end. She had to rip out two seams from a few mistakes. She slept on the way home and I'm not surprised! WOW did she need a nap!

You'd be surprised how many children do not have ANY pillowcase on their bed. So this is a treat for some of them. Great Job, 4-Hers (and ladies).
