I'm just a Ramblin'!

Got to see my parents this weekend in Nebraska! My dad's knee isn't good enough to go home yet, but he got moved to a hospital closer to home. Omaha is ok, but it's just too far for Mom and uncle to come visit very often. The medication makes him pass out every now and then, so conversations were choppy but interesting...

Then we went back to my parents house for lunch on Saturday. Two of my sisters and a brother showed up to mow their lawn since Dad is down for the count. Too bad there wasn't another mower available, or I really would have pitched in! REALLY! Oh well.. I got to stay inside, make lunch and play with my almost one year old niece, Brooke. Her initials spell B.A.D. by the way... deliberately...

The rest of the afternoon, I went to the hair dresser with my mom, helped Meri find where the baby kittys were hiding under one of the sheds and tried to keep our dog quiet. We had to bring the barker with us!

My folks bought an old one room schoolhouse about 12 years ago and have loved remodeling it into their home. As long as I can remember they've been remodeling their houses. They only get done and are happy with them just before they sell. Otherwise it's always in a state of bare sheet-rock, unfinished edges, sawdust, etc. From the point where Robb and I first started dating to when we got married, the kitchen of my house was in 3 different physical places in the house. My parents were just never satisfied with where it should be. But they finished it off in time to sell it to my sister and are loving their time in the country schoolhouse now.

The schoolhouse has a bell that apparently weighs as much as the house and can never come down nor be rang without a crane. All the original playground equipment is still there so the girls made some memories with the swingset and merry-go-round.

On Sunday, after helping with a church cleaning in prep for Sunday school starting soon, I picked up a few things to get a 1st birthday gift ready for a different niece, Lily, whose birthday I'd accidentally missed in July. The pattern is below.

I just wanted a simple girly dress that I could put a big poofy pocket on with a little ruffly thing happening. I'd purchased the fabric on my sewing spree with the American Sewers Guild ladies a few weeks ago. I still have enough of it to make a girly shirt for one of my girls. But I picked up some orange knit for the trim and ruffle. Got almost all done last night except for attaching the ruffle. That'll happen maybe tonight after I'm done grocery shopping, if I'm not too worn out.
Happy Monday everyone!

I've missed your posts for a few days. Trying to get into my schooling groove, you know. You've had a lot happening. I love all the sewing projects. You need to post a picture of the old schoolhouse. It sounds interesting.
