An Inspiration for a project...

I've been inspired and I finally started cutting the fabric last night... Katwise on Etsy has this fabulous sweater that she's repurposed out of old sweaters. I have some of my husbands old sweaters and plan to do something like that with them... But first I'm trying it out on some heavy weight knit fabric that I had burning a hole in my stash.

I've got grey for the body, deep burgundy (from a knit jacket I found at a garage sale) for the hood and orange (from stash) for the hood frame. Then the same burgundy and orange for the lower arms. I'll have to see what else I've got in patterned knit for the middle part of the arm... I may just skip that part and have it grey down to the different colors... not sure yet. Then at the hem, I've saved the edging from the knit jacket and will do a border of burgundy down there.

I will serge the seams on the outside for most of it, but the main seams will be inside. Not sure yet what colors for the serger thread. I bought some spools of some funky multicolored thread, then realized that it doesn't work in the serger, or with anything else for that matter... It's just not very strong. Maybe for a handsewn edge on something. That thread will sit in the stash for a while until I use it.

I know the whole concept sounds like of crazy. Maddy doesn't want one until she sees it worked out, so I'm making this one for Meri, because it kind of appealed to her.

Tonight we're headed to the high school football game because Maddy is playing in the band and tomorrow is totally booked. Meeting my sister, cleaning house and making a great supper for Ryan and his girlfriend to come for a visit. I KNOW!? Since when did I ever spiffy things up for him to come home!? He's a visitor now! WHHAAAA!!

So this project will resume on Sunday afternoon. Meri is invited to a Hobo sleepover (don't ask... I'll tell you later...) so she'll be gone all afternoon Sunday until Monday sometime.

If I don't post before Monday, have a great Labor Day weekend!

Hey...has anyone ever told you that they have problems leaving comments on your blog...this is the 4th time that a window called "sportsbook.com" has opened when i click on your comment link (and even on different days).....am I the only one with this problem?...I find it much easier to leave comments in the "pop-up-window" feature....because I love to go back and read more posts after I leave a comment...but it could be just me....now I'm rambling... ;)
take care!
