We celebrate Birthday Tide in our house. I think it originated in my husband's family growing up, so I don't think it's worldwide, countrywide or statewide for that matter.
Definition of birthdaytide: The period between your birthday and the next birthday in your immediate family. During this time, you may invoke birthdaytide when you want to get out of dishes.... get special permission to go to a movie with your friends... get someone to fetch you a pop... etc... Can you see the implications?? and possibilities???
My birthdaytide was from July until Maddy's birthday, earlier this week. I think I forgot to invoke it after the first week. Maddy has only taken advantage of it inadverdantly a couple times so far... but mostly we made someone else bring the dogs in, just because it's her special week.
Robb's lasts a whole 4 days every year. His mom lives with us and her birthday is only 4 days after his. Ryan's is only 2 weeks.
Maddy can enjoy this special time until January when Meri celebrates her birthday. But I'll bet she'll forget all about her birthdaytide after a week or two...

What a great tradition. I've never heard of it before.
I'll have to ask others if they've heard of it!
Enjoy your weekend!

Great tradition! We don't have birthdaytide, but we do have birthday week. Hubby and I celebrate birthdays for the whole week. So fun that way!
Love the snuggie! I have one but they didn't have pink when I got mine.
What a great tradition! :)
The boys' birthdays seem to be celebrated all week, even though it's not really a conscious effort.
Cute tradition! I love the pink snuggie! We have blue ones. (Of course- how could I not with all the boys?)
What a unique idea!
I love the snuggie. I've been meaning to make me one of those things ! Very nice tradition.
