What's on your Thanksgiving menu?

Well... I emailed out the first Thanksgiving Reunion menu yesterday with what people have promised to bring so far. We're looking at around 62 so far... But that could change as more people respond. This is my mother's side of the family reunion that is hosted by someone in the family every year on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Our own Thanksgiving will be on Thursday with Robb's family at our house. I don't know what all is on the menu for that, but it will probably be the standard menu.

Turkey * real mashed potatoes * gravy * bean gunk (green bean casserole) * squash * corn casserole * broccoli onion casserole * veggie tray * etc. Everyone pitches in and brings or makes something.

But Friday is a different animal all together. With many more people. Here's what we have so far...
Turkey (2 or 3)
Spiral cut ham
haggis (I "THINK" my brother is joking...)
veggie casserole
veggie tray
1919 rootbeer keg
pies
napkins

Items that on the list to still have someone bring are...
Cranberry jellied & otherwise
rolls or bread
veggie sides
gravy
mashed potatoes
paper plates
silverware
cups (enough for several, kids will misplace them... and I probably will too.)
relish tray with pickles
other sides as they dream them up

I'm sure people will be creative, they always are.

What is on the menu for your Thanksgiving meal? I'm not just curious, but looking for ideas...

Stuffing is my fave! I wont know till last minute this year where we will be on Thanksgiving, but where ever we are, the stuffing wont last long. lol

Stuffing, can't have Thanksgiving without stuffing. Oh - and I get begged every year to make the cheddar broccoli dish. And, I would not want to show up for dinner without bringing along my pumpkin roll with cream cheese frosting.

Turkey and dressing (not into stuffing in the south)
Country ham
biscuits
Macaroni and cheese
broccoli casserole
mashed potatoes and giblet gravy
Chocolate eclair cake
Paula Deen's Not Yo Mama's Banana Pudding
Turkey cookies made with Nutter Butters, chocolate wafers, candy corn, mini M&Ms and icing.

Those are the staples. There are always other things to go along with it. I'm not looking forward to gaining another five pounds...

How could I forget sweet potato pie. Or as it's called around here
sweet tater pie.

Dude, if you have haggis you HAVE to take pictures and show it to us.

In addition to the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and crescent rolls, we also have: sweet potato souffle and grape salad--one pumpkin pie, one fruit pie of my choosing (usually peach) and French silk pie. Sometimes I throw in pecan pie too. If we are getting together with family, my sister always brings oreo cookie dessert (a pudding like treat)...which is a huge favorite for people of all ages.

Mmmmm...I love Thanksgiving. We have a dinner at MIL's house with Hubby's side of the family, usually the day after Thanksgiving. (My family is out of state.)

On the actual day, if any of our kids will be in town and want to have dinner, then I will cook a big turkey dinner. Sometimes, even if all are in town, they will go to their mom's, but we will find out closer to the day.

If no kids, I may cook a turkey. In previous years, Hubby has requested other things, like lasagne. LOL! But we will get our turkey fix.

Oh, and I HAVE to bring devilled eggs to all get togethers, or several people will not speak to me.

We usually travel somewhere warm for Thanksgiving and skip the hoopla of a feast, but we're not traveling this year and your menu is making me reconsider not cooking. And BTW if anyone cooks it's ALWAYS me!!! You have so much good stuff there, but my family always does stuffed celery for a snack before dinner's ready to keep everyone out of the kitchen and a marshmallow pistachio salad. My invite may be created this weekend . . . :)

My kids are going to some tropical vacation spot for Thanksgiving. So I get this year off from having to cook. I'm not sure how I feel about that...but it is what it is. How nice to have such a large family...so far the menu looks great and nice that everyone helps out with a dish. Love the root beer keg idea!!

Wow that's a huge group of people!
Last year I fried some sliced garlic in butter & used it to base the turkey...I know, sinfully delicious, this year I would add some rosemary + the garlic...They add a nice flavor & fragrance to the turkey...hope you'll try it, but make sure don't burn the garlic or it's going to be bitter!
ps: read your 'emergency'previous post, my...life is full of ups & down, but thank God it's a happy ending...

Wish I could give you some ideas but the Thanksgiving dinner that I made is pretty basic. Turkey, Cheesy Mashed Potatoes, Corn, Salad, Green Bean Casserole, jellied cranberry, stuffing and candied yams. Which are a MUST in this house. They are sooo easy and sooo yummy!!
