The Freaky Pilgrim People
"November started the war of the “freaky pilgrim people”. A few years ago I bought Thanksgiving Glow-Molds of a pilgrim man and woman, and a turkey, standing about 3 feet tall. I liked the idea of Thanksgiving decorations for a few reasons, they reminded me of Thanksgiving and who to be thankful to, and it discouraged early Christmas decorations (which by law should not be put up until the day after Thanksgiving). I thought everyone in the house liked them also. I was wrong. Shortly before Thanksgiving, Maddy told me that she could not wait for Thanksgiving to be over so we could put away “those freaky pilgrim people”. Apparently she thought they were a little creepy. Thanksgiving came and went. The Monday after Thanksgiving, Ryan, full of the love and goodwill that this time of year gives, decided to extend the holiday spirit by putting the “freaky pilgrim people” in the girls room. This brought a scream from Maddy. Maddy, with the spirit of Christmas Joy and forgiveness in her heart, retaliated by putting the “freaky pilgrim people” outside his door the next morning. This touched off many actions and reactions. For the next few days we never knew where the “freaky pilgrim people” would appear. After Ryan found them in the shower, and Maddy woke up to them in her bed, we put a stop to the war and packed them away in the garage. I can’t wait until next Thanksgiving."
So that's my freaky pilgrim people story... Maddy coined the phrase and it has stuck.
On a side note... I finally got a picture of my sewing room! Ignore the carpet, it still needs to be vacuumed...
My actual sewing table overlooks the livingroom. My patterns are stowed in the trunk underneath for now with all my supplies. Usually, the other table is set up next to the fringed window, but with company coming, I had to take it down. That way the trundle bed can pull out if we need it.
Anyway... Back to work and after work, more straightening up! The dogs are going to get boarded while everyone is here. Less hassle and Sorsha tends to get anxious around a lot of people. Plus they like it better there anyway...

I love the "freaky pilgrim people" story! We have a freaky cookie jar that is currently being passed around for Christmas. My dad bought it at the flea market and could not find any one who was willing to take it. The thing is UGLY! Every year someone else opens it for Christmas. I have threatened to have my dad's ashes put in it when he passes. LOL! I told my sister she should have him, since she's the oldest!
so so freakyyy...lol:) Happy Thanksgiving!
This sounds exactly like something that would happen at our house. I can see freaky pilgrim people popping up everywhere.
We had a freaky Santa/Mrs. Santa set, but Bryan put them in storage in a manner that caused Santa's head to be broken off. He also let Rudolph's antlers get broken off.
I laughed hard at the freaky pilgrim people being in bed with Maddy. I love stuff like that.
And your room looks great. I hate having to tear rooms apart but it is always worth it in the end.Good job and keep up the good work, well that is what I always tell myself when I have a big project.
Ok... those pilgrims give me the creeps.
Yep, those ARE freaky pilgrim people. The turkey is nearly as tall as them. Wouldn't they be scared if they were real? There's a giant turkey coming at us, quick kill it!!!
I LOVE the freaky pilgrim people story!! Wonder where they will end up this year!
I love that freaky pilgrim story! That sounds like something that MY family would do, except our story involves a huge, and I do mean HUGE fake spider that my Mom and my twin sister kept sending each other for years. The thing's name was Willamina, and after its' demise, they got another one and named "him" William. (he is currently lost!) YAY!
When My sis would come home to visit, after she was married, she'd put it under Mom's pillow. That was always funny! Then, Mom would pack that thing in some package that she'd send back home with twin sis. You could always expect the phone to ring as soon as she'd find it! Ahhh...dear Willamina, RIP! And may William never, ever be found! HAHA! LOL
My niece told me a joke=
"why Pilgrims pants fall down?"
"...because they wear their belt buckles in their hats!"
heehee....
Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving~Blessings*
Talk about Musical Chairs, er, Musical Pilgrims! :-)
Happy Thanksgiving! :-)
Way too cute! I probably would have had a coronary if I woke up to find them in bed with me!
Thanks for stopping by the Ranch and visitin' please stop by again when you can!
I want some. Really! They are hilarious. Hilariously creepy!!! I love it!
The dogs like to be boarded? Does it have anything to do with their dislike of the freaky pilgrim people?! HAHA! Boy, those things are freaky! LOVE the story! Too funny! :)
What a fun freaky tradition. I want something to annoy and freak out my family!
