Well - we're in the dawn of a blizzard today. It snowed an inch or so last night and with more snow all day today and tomorrow morning, we should end up with about 12-15 inches by the time things slow up tomorrow afternoon.
So far I haven't gotten the automatic email from the schools saying that school is going to be let out early, but the neighboring towns are letting their kids go home at 1 and 2pm. So I'm sure mine will come home early too. Maddy will appreciate it and I'll probably hear strains of various music pieces all afternoon as she enjoys her time off.
Meri will probably play out in it with the neighbor girl all afternoon.
A bunch of blowing snow tomorrow, so I'm willing to bet a 2nd snow day will be in the mix too. If this keeps up, they'll use their built in snow days and have to go to school thru July! Eek! The snowy honeymoon for these kids will be over by January 1st, I'm pretty sure...
I gave up on the dress that I'm making for Meri for her program Thursday night. I had bought this fabulous mauve sweatery type fabric and Meri picked out the pattern from my pattern stash. A babydoll type dress with the biggest drapiest sleeves ever. She tried it on and showed Robb. He had her hold her arms up and jiggle them.
Meri exclaimed, "My arms look like Grandmas!"
That wasn't what he was expecting and we cracked up! Then he had her sing, "I will stand by him, wherever he may go..." Oh my... She looks like a nun from the Sister Act movie! She can't wear this dress! The fabric might have been fabulous but it was not suited for this type of dress. It's really heavy and doesn't drape at all... Just hangs... and weighs about 5 lbs.
So I dug in my closet and found an older dress that one of the girls wore a few years ago. It's a sleeveless black velvet stretchy thing. Meri found some black velvet pants from a different year, tried the dress on for me and I started chopping. The dress was really snug on her so she helped me rip the side seams and I added an extra inch or two on both sides from fabric from the pants.
I just need to redo under the armpits and hems, then make a shrug, jackety thing from some black/burgandy bleed thru stuff in my stash that kind of goes well with it. She may look pretty classy by Thursday night after all! I'll let you know how it goes and I'll for sure post a pic of her when it gets done.
Have a great Thursday and stay warm!!!

We are supposed to get buried too. It is snowing here on the IL/WI border. We are supposed to get up to 10 inches! YUCK. I love hot!!!!
AHH! Stay warms!
We're on the south edge of the same storm. So far, a little sleet and freezing rain. We aren't supposed to get more than an inch or so of snow total. But an hour north of us, they already have 2-3 inches.
Bring summer back!
12 to 15 inches?? Our whole town would shut down. Seriously, when the rain comes after summer the people who live here forget how to drive. Snow?? They are absolutely lost.
Oh, that's a ton of snow! I am so envious!!
If we had that kind of snow our town would shut down for at least a week. Seriously. We have only had one snow like that here in my lifetime.
Warm here! Stay inside!
