One more Christmas prank!

One more Christmas prank and then you can enjoy the rest of your Christmas season...

Prank 3: Operation Nose Job

In 1994, my son was in his first ever Christmas program at our old church in western Iowa. He was a shepherd! In order to help him learn his part, which I remember to this day... Robb played a little game with him involving little bunny Foofoo, who hopped thru the forest and came to a cabin in the woods. Then the little bunny screamed at the top of his little lungs, "For the Christ child once foretold, by the Holy men of old!"

Ryan loved this story and would scream it right along with Bunny Foofoo! So on our three hour drive to my hometown, they practiced and he got pretty good at it!

This isn't the prank. Not yet...

So the Christmas program went off without any major hiccups and Ryan said his part perfectly. Many were impressed... In my review of the pictures, when we finally got them developed, we noticed something funny. Ryan's cousin, Alex was a little shepherd along with him and Alex was caught in a picture picking his nose.

We could not let THIS go!!! My sister would be mortified while her husband would be amused.

So....

The next year for our Christmas letter, we made two versions and two pictures. Robb had me make the smallest amount of Christmas picture cards I could with the picture of Ryan and of course Alex picking his nose. Then the usual amount of just our two (at the time) kid picture cards. Another sister, Ruth Ann, knew about it and insisted that I send her a copy too.

So here's the prank. We sent the picture postcard with Alex and a doctored Christmas letter to my sister Teresa and her family & of course to Ruth Ann. In the Christmas letter, we added a paragraph about the picture. It said something about Ryan's first program and that the picture is of him and his cousin Alex. Alex is the one picking his nose. We said nothing else...

A few days after the letters went out, I got a surprise phone call!
DID YOU SEND THAT PICTURE TO EVERYONE!!!!?

LOL! I love my family!

You're too clever. I think of things way after the fact or don't follow through. I think I'm glad I'm not in your family. And I mean that in a good way.
