Who invited Mickey?!

Several years ago, on our traditional "set up the tree" Saturday after Thanksgiving.. we ran into a surprise!

My brother in law and his family were here. That's not the surprise. Wait for it... wait for it...

They offered to help hang the lights and hang the ornaments, so we said, SURE! I went in the garage and pulled out 3 BIG clear plastic bins full of ornaments and brought them into the entry way. As the relatives stood back while I pulled off the broken lid off the first, my BIL noticed something.

Hey! Is something in there?

I thought, of course he's trying to kid me! He's a kidder! I went around the box and looked at what he was pointing at. I'm gullible...

Thru the side of the clear box, we could see several somethings hopping around on the sides amongst the ornaments.

Darn - he wasn't kidding...

Screaming, everyone (but the loudest screamers) grabbed the boxes and ran outside to the driveway with them. Took the lids off and laid them on their sides so that whatever was inside could get out quickly. Ornaments scattered.

And out from the Christmas decorations streamed several and I mean several mice and their babies. LOTS... They poured out of the boxes, not knowing where to go. One sat on my young niece's foot. Louder screams ensued...

The bigger boys shooed them out of the driveway and the poor cold homeless mice raced across the street...

where they ran into the open garage door of our neighbor....

Whistle... walk away... look up... hands behind your back.... dash into the house...

I would have been screaming the LOUDEST!! Don't like those critters.

My daughter had a mouse come at her from a campfire in Botswana, Africa. She had on a long skirt and it tried to go up her leg. She tried to climb up the guy sitting next to her. It actually left a little mark on her ankle. She affectionately calls it her 'mouse mark'. If we had known the things that happened on the mission trip while they were happening we would have been freaking out! Lions, elephants, sleeping on the side of the road...

I bet your screams matched my screams with the possum!

Oh my gosh! I would have been FREAKING out! My screams would have been the loudest and my laughter would have been too after they all ran into the neighbors garage. Bawahahaha!

Oh my goodness... I think the best part is how you ran back into your house as quickly as you ran out. Your poor neighbors! :)

That is too funny!I have a few people that I'm not real fond of. Could you please open your boxes at their house next year?

Oh, no! You almost made that family homeless at Christmas time! Thank goodness the neighbors had room for them. (snort)

Haha! I love this post, but my favorite part is your non-chalant ending. Ever spot an exterminator over at your neighbors??
