How do you celebrate at -15 degrees?

We celebrated Meri's birthday with a few of her closest friends at a local hotel with a pool. It was Maddy and I, then 4 girls. We checked into adjoining rooms and let the girls swim as soon as we got there for a while until the pizza arrived. And I discovered how to use the sports setting on my camera! I love it!
The actual pictures are very clear and I can pick whichever one I want for printing. Pretty awesome!
Meri picked 3 friends who really played well with each other! In the past there has always been a couple that cliqued and Meri or another girl usually ended up with me in the kitchen feeling bummed. Not so this year until breakfast the next morning. So the hurt feelings only lasted about 30 minutes. whew!
There was a jacuzzi in one of the rooms, so Meri opened her presents in it, then later, all 4 girls chillaxed in the bubbly water. We played spoons, Duck Duck Goose, Apples to Apples and ate ice cream sandwiches before the girls finally settled down to sleep.
Do you know how hard it is to find the proper sleeping arrangements amongst 4 girls? Maddy just slept on the floor and stayed out of it entirely. 2 had to sleep with no light whatsoever and 2 with at least the bathroom light on. One wanted the curtains opened, but being on the main floor, I nixed that idea. Finally got that figured out, then messed with the thermostat because one of the girls tends to overheat easily. I messed up and woke up at 3am freezing. Messed with the controls in the dark and finally got them working the way I wanted.

We had breakfast in the lounge area and then I did a tag team with Robb as I had to get to a church meeting by 9am.

All I can say really, is that I slept really well Saturday night!

What a great momma you are!! How fun, I bet she remembers this b-day for a LONG time! And how sweet for Maddy to come along...I'm not sure I would've been that sweet when I was her age!

Looks like a fabulous time was had by the girls, so your sleep sacrifice was worth it! Hope you can catch up throughout the week (lunch hour naps??)...

Let's hope everyone has school this week, eh?

That's a great idea! I have to say I have NO IDEA what 15 degrees feels like. Here in Tucson it has been 70! I would actually like cold weather- my kids have long sleeved things from Christmas and they can't wear them!

I've had friends do this idea with their daughters before and I think it's a great idea. One year we tried doing a pool party in January and we all froze.

Looks like the girls had fun, but were probably exhausted the next day.
