Letter to a dog...

Dear Ellie,
Elle, baby... We know you are a very smart puppy! You know to go into your kennel when we tell you to... You're slowly learning to be housebroke, or maybe we're learning how to handle your deficiency... You're learning that you should not chew thru underwear and socks that you grab from the laundryroom as you run past. You will sit when you feel like it... You know we love you.
But now that you've discovered what brilliant invention snow drifts are, I'm afraid we've got a little problem... You see... Your 10 year old owner has a massive coronary when she finds that shes nearly lost you. Her stocking feet can't take running through the snow to drag you back to the house any longer. AND there are some people that don't want you dancing through their yards and terrorizing them by your public shows of affection...

I can't get the snow blower back here as the gate is drifted over. Besides, the snow is packed down too hard. I'm going to have to shovel out that entire corner by the garage by hand this evening, just so we can trust you in the back yard again... OR hose the whole thing down until it melts, which is not a very good plan. Much as my girls love to ice skate, I don't want a rink on our property.
Please please please refrain from jumping the fence?

She looks so innocent! Ha! My father-in-law has a black lab and she is CRAZY!

I hope Elle stays in the yard.

I think you better send one of your kiddoes to start shovelling - just over the fence.

Dear Ellie,
I think she means it. If I were you, I'd stop jumping the fence.

Thanks for visiting my blog! :)

My parent's dog used to be able to jump over the fence by climbing up a wood pile and onto their compost box and it was always a bit annoying and scary when she ran away - there's always the question of how far did they run? Fortunately, my parent's dog is quite small, so it's difficult for her to terrorize people. :P

Take Care!

Congratulations on your SITS Day! Oh, the joys of dog ownership. ;) We have a lab/shepherd mix, and it is terrifying when he gets out of the yard.
