The girls had their piano clinic on Saturday afternoon. Their performance is below. I think they both did really well and Maddy doesn't grimace anymore when she screws up... she just smiles really big. As if she MEANT to do that! Good attitude!!!
After Meri's performance of Ode to Joy, the clinician who critiques their work was grinning and said, "I have to show you all her music!" and proceeded to show the entire audience Meri's page of the music. Apparently Meri was trying to make the dynamics of the song more pronounced when practicing it by scribbling on the page bigger (for loud) in some places and smaller (for softer) in others. The clinician was tickled and had to share... Maddy played the Mad Russian's Christmas and pounded away! You'll recognize it from the radio. It's actually a take-off of a Tchaikovsky piece from the Nutcracker Suite.
I'm glad the clinic is behind us now... because as much as I love these two pieces... I'm looking forward to different tunes wafting thru the house.
