Rockin' good time in Iowa!

We had a blizzard yesterday and school was out. It's out again today too... Robb drove his mom to work, then brought her home mid-afternoon. Since he didn't want her walking from the street, he drove right up on a drift to get her fairly close to the house.

After work, I took the snowblower which had been melting all day in my office (long story) (short story - I blew out some slush during the last blizzard and left some in to make the snowblower a solid chunk of ice...) and cleared out the back side of the driveway. I enjoy running the snowblower. It's good exercise and I feel like I've gotten at least one thing accomplished that day!

I moved two of the cars back onto the cleared part, then tried Robbs. NO GO... It was high centered pretty good on a slowly solidifying snowdrift. Oops!

Robb and I tried getting it out, but had no luck. We got Maddy to sit in the drivers seat and we pushed. Unfortunately she had never had to get a car out of snow before and we were pushing when she was going forward and vice versa...

We jumped in the car to warm up for a minute and gave her a quick rundown on how the rocking of a car goes. Just leave it in reverse. Step on the gas and see if it moves. If it does, keep on the gas gently until it doesn't move anymore, then let off the gas and rock back into position and do it again. Once you have a good rocking motion, that's all the momentum Robb and I need to push it back. Oh - momentum and the rug from the front hall behind the front tire.

Unfortunately again... It went back two feet and Maddy thought she was clear of the snow. Nope. We started the rocking stuff again but moved Grandmas car just in case Maddy got carried away with backing up!

For all you folks that live down south or in coastal cities... I am SOOO envious of you right now!

I live in one of those warm climates! And forgive the pun - but the grass is always greener on the other side!!! It doesn't feel like winter here - we were in shorts yesterday!!

If this car's a rockin'...well, it's just high centered on a snow drift again!

Ahh fun times! Den popped a 6 day old tire this morning on the way to work. Why don't we live in the South?
Have a great weekend!

Oh my! You guys seem to be getting one after another out in Iowa. My friend in Clear Lake can't even get out of her door!lol

At this rate it will be a wonder if the kids finish the school year before detasseling time.lolol

We have been lucky so far on the mountain here in PA....little snow and it has been coming in small amounts each time. I am just waiting for the other shoe(or would that be other FOOT of snow)to drop.

Stay safe!!!

Don't be too jealous, school's out here in the 'balmy' south, too! Just a dusting of snow has done it here!! Less than an inch and all the school's are out...It IS cold, though. Enjoy your weekend!

We have had LOTS of snow all week. Nothing major. It was snowing pretty good here this am, and they didn't even delay school. My thought is though, that I would much rather have the snow now and NOT in April or May when we are supposed to have warm & sun.

We had 1/2 an inch. That's a blizzard for us. School is shut down over the northern half of the state.

Don't feel bad. I'm in Florida and it's a high of 36 tomorrow. What the heck?

It's supposed to be 14 here tonight and it never ever gets that cold here in south Texas! People are freaking out and I keep thinking...what if you lived somewhere with real weather? Stay warm!

we had a snow day from school and work yesterday. They cancelled school here before the snow ever fell. Oh poor pansy southerners are we. LOL.

Stay warm!!!!

Sorry about the troubles. Hope you have better luck. I'm north of you, so we're trapped by a snowed-in driveway.

sounds like pure misery. I'm in the south but we've been having lows in the teens - I dare not venture out!

We've not had too much snow - not unusual (we've had one snow day so far this year) for Wisconsin/Minnesota (we live on the border), but it's SO COLD - we've been below zero for weeks now! BRRRRRRRR

When I move to Mississippi, come visit me this time next year...it will probably be about 50 degrees outside, you'll think you were visiting someplace exotic, except with a twang.
