Thanks by Grace

As you recall a week or so ago, I sewed a pair of pants and a skirt for my niece Grace. Her mom gave me measurements and I went for it. Purple with a little pocket on one backside with some decorative stitching on it. They looked pretty cute. Then the skirt was recycled from a white nightgown that had a ton of pintucks on it. I cut it off at the waist, elasticized it to her waist side and that was that. It looked adorable! And I can say that because I saw them and you didn't... :) and there are no pictures to prove me wrong...

So anyway... In the mail yesterday I got the sweetest little card from Grace.
Awe!!!! She's such a cutie!

My immediate family is lousy about sending Thank you cards! They would just as soon send an email thank you or call you up and say thanks. Which is ok too, but this personal touch makes a ton of difference, doesn' t it?

It's the lost art of the handwritten note. So sad so few still write things and put them in the mail. I always do a little dance when one arrives in my mailbox...at least on the inside.

That is so sweet. I have to say I'm horrible at thank you cards. But one tradition that I started with my sisters on Christmas totally rocks, and I plan on doing it with my family. It's pretty easy too, just 5 steps:

1. Take a picture of everyone wearing/holding their Chrismas present from Aunt Carol and Uncle Bob. (Do this immediately after presents are opened)
2. Print picture out and affix it to the front of a card. Have fun with glitter/sitckers/various and sundry craft items to design the card.(Do this while watching everyone's Christmas movie)
3. Everyone signs the card.
4. Address the envelope (do it ON Christmas day)
5. Put envelope in mail.

I suppose this could be done after a birthday party too. It's really a great way to have family appreciate the gifts they're giving, especially when they're out of town.

Have an Extraordinary Day!

Hi there. I love getting Thank you cards...something that has gone by the wayside. (oops! That just reminded me we need to get my 7 year olds written and sent from his BD 2 weeks ago...yikes!)

Stopping by from SITS! Have a great weekend!

I love thank you cards-- particularly from my nieces and nephews (the ones who are old enough to write, which are only two!). Your niece has good manners!

Yeah, the guy in the Ford Focus was a trip... if only I'd thought to use my camera phone to capture it for my blog readers!

I like thank you cards too. I used to make the kids write thank you cards for their birthday gifts until some of the moms told me I was making them all look bad and me look snotty because I made them write notes. I guess good manners are out of style.

Not that there is anything wrong with verbal thanks or emails either though. : )

I think we should all teach our children the importance of little things, like Thank You notes.

I always have my kids send handmade thank you cards whenever they get gifts from people. I think it is important!

It really is great to get a thank you note. They are getting rarer and rarer.

Hi, there. I'm here from Friday Follow. I was going down the list and when I got to your link it wasn't working. I figured out the URL should be "my" not "me", so I fixed it.

I'm now your newest blog follower. Thanks for linking up!

Just loved this post... coming from SITS. Random, but are you going to Bloggy Boot Camp in Baltimore?

People don't seem to do thank you cards anymore. That makes the ones you do get special.

I am sure the outfit was cute.
