It's been a flying 5 weeks since Christmas! I was hoping to spend every lunch hour slaving over the sewing machine... but I've been slack. I've been so worn out from work and the Christmas rush that most lunch hours consist of me taking care of the dogs, doing a load of laundry, then lounging at the counter eating and watching a movie or an old Star Trek Enterprise episode... I've been bored... or boring... or whatever you call it.
On the weekends I get the most inspired to sew, or when there's a birthday coming up. I tore apart at the seams a pair of jeans that I loved the fit on, but they got ripped and had paint splattered on them. So I took them apart, every last stitch and used them for a pattern for a new pair. I'd never made jeans before or any pants that fit me for that matter, so I'm anxious to see how these turn out. I've got all the basic parts of them sewn now except for the waistband and hem. And why has it taken me 2 weeks to get back to them? The lack of inspiration I guess and a filthy sewing room.. My son needed to stay over one night due to a snowstorm and he couldn't even sleep on his old bed! I had him sleep on the couch. So much for a guest room!
So I diverted my creative juices to making a pair of pull on pants & skirt for a niece's birthday, then a fleece pillowcase and a Wizard of Oz pillowcase for two another birthdays. And I never took a single picture of these projects! I suck! Hopefully this weekend I'll get some time to actually work on the jeans again and maybe to put my sewing room back in order. I'm looking forward to trying my hand at a muslin practice prom dress to try out for Maddy. Not that she'll be asked this year as a freshmen... but this way at least, if I can get a dress out that fits her well, she can start stocking up for future formals. I hope her size doesn't change for a while!
On another note, the other morning as I was walking the girls out to the car to get them to school, there was about 2 inches of frozen snow and ice on the front walk. And me being stupid, had just pulled on some crocs I'd found in the front hall closet. When you work from home, you mostly just wear socks around the house, so I wasn't going to waste precious morning time lacing up tennies...
The ice was uneven and I started to slide. My legs and feet went every which way to keep from falling. The tree in middle of our front patio has several flimsy branches so I grabbed at them and they all snapped. My left bare hand (who has time to look for gloves!?) hit the soft snow bank on the left. Maddy turned around to see me flailing and tried to help by grabbing my arm, but missed. She grabbed a bunch of my hair! I hit the ground anyway. But thanks to my hair, the flimsy branches and snow bank, my fall was broken slightly.
So this morning, my hips are out of whack and I woke up more sore than when I went to bed. YUCK...
Sew not my day!

Ugh! I'm sorry you fell! It sounds like something I would do. :/
Oh no! Hope you recover from the fall! I'll be anxious to hear how the jeans turn out.

OMG! You are far from boring. Sorry you are sore. Hope you feel better soon.
I made a pair of jeans in high school. They were a lot of work, but so cool. :-)

Ouch!
I hope your hips get with the program again soon and your hair grows back fast. Either stay inside or keep the Crocs inside.lol
Even if you haven't taken pics you are getting the sewing done in spite of being bored(you are NEVER boring!).
I OTOH....have gotten Zero sewing done. Too busy running back and forth to Rite-aid so far this year.lol This is the year I am going to get to all those half finished/half started projects. Besides 1 scarf I finished up before Christmas my total is ZIP in the finished column. But it's only Feb. so still time to catch up....I think......maybe not.....oh heck, who am I kidding?lolol
Ow! Glad your hair was there to break the fall. Hope you are feeling better soon.
I'm impressed as usual at what you are sewing or attempting to sew!
You poor kid! Falling and getting snatched bald does bode well for the day, does it?
that sucks about your fall. Glad you are OK. You are very ambitious attempting to make jeans!! I am impressed. I've been so exhausted when I get home from work it's pathetic. Way behind on things too.
Oh no! So sorry about the fall. I hope you heal up soon.
I often just slide on my Crocs... they're just so easy and convenient.
Give me a heads up if you ever want someone to watch old Star Trek episodes with. What season(s) do you have?
