*sing song* We're going on a vacation!!!! We're going on a vacation!!!!
I don't believe it! We haven't done any vacation in the last few years that don't consist of sleeping on a relatives floor, sleeper sofa or a cheap hotel for an over night.
The last real one we went on was to Great Wolf Lodge in Wisconsin a few years ago and we were all sick. We did have fun at the waterpark and the place was great, but between running someone to a bathroom and vomiting into the room sink, it was rather disgusting... After we left there, we drove down to Janesville to visit and infect my sister and her family.
So anyway, we're going to go to Branson, Missouri!!! Woohoo! We're not huge country fans, but when you compare the lyrics of pop, rock, rap & country. Country wins hands down for patriotism and not all of it is about your wife and dog leaving you behind on the farm anymore!
If anyone has been to Branson, please comment about things we should do. Meri has been investigating online and found a wax museum! That should be fun! We hit one when we went to Mount Rushmore and really enjoyed it. We're kind of suckers for the biggest ball of twine and that sort of thing. Are we hicks? rednecks? who knows? But I would win on a trivia game of where the biggest popcorn ball resides.
I called about 25 different cabin rental places because Meri has her heart set on staying in a cabin. The last time we rented a cabin was in Northern Minnesota when I was pregnant with Meri... so it's been a while. Oh and SpongeBob Squarepants premiered that week! Very memorable! Actually the trip really was memorable. What a great time even tho I was extremely pregnant and uncomfortable... We still used the paddle boats and canoe.
After all the calls last night, I finally found one that wasn't booked for the days we wanted. Whew! Oh that reminds me, I need to call them and confirm the reservation this morning... Below is a pic of where we'll be staying.
Boy! Do I need this vacation!

Hello, I am stopping by from SITS. I love your blog!
I am such a sap when it comes to family vacations. I always want to go somewhere that we can have this wonderful, concentrated family time without all the Disneyland distractions. I am usually out voted, but this year on our trek down to Florida (which does not include Disney, just beautiful beach time) we are stopping by Graceland!!! I am so excited! AMERICANA
Have a great day,
Joyce
WooHoo! Branson's practically in my backyard! Well, OK, it's at the south end of the state, and I'm at the north end, but still...
When are you going and will you be coming through Kansas city when you do?
There are lots of fun things to do in Branson besides the music shows. Silver Dollar City is an Ozark Mountain Craft and Theme Park. There is an awesome cave inside the park, too. There is WhiteWater water park, lots of Go Kart tracks, the wax museum you mentioned, a Titanic exhibit, a Ripley's Believe It Or Not, an outlet mall, "The Ducks" which are vehicles the move on land or water, the beautiful clear water of Table Rock Lake to play in, lots and lots of places to eat, even more places to buy souvenirs (forget frugal on this trip).
Also you are only half an hour or so away from Springfield, MO, which a really nice city to visit, and equally close to Eureka Springs, AR, which is sometimes called "Little Switzerland". It's also where we got married.
Wow...I think I should get a job for the Ozarks Dept. of Tourism...LOL
thanks for your comment today!! hope you have a great vacation. We've never been to Branson but it seems like a fun place. Have a great time!
I keep seeing Branson on commercials and it looks fun to me! I think they have a theme park maybe?? You do have a little bit of a pink neck...that's coming from me, the tuna in a can REDNECK. LOL!
Cool beans!
Never been there so I'm no help...sorry.
Are you going soon or this summer?
Sounds like you could have a blast tho. 8-)
I love the WI dells. Did you all have the flu or was it something you ate? I heard that Great Wolf Lodge was wonderful!
Have a fun trip and take lots of pictures.
Have a great weekend!
So jealous! I hope you have a great time:)
Hello Again!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. :)
I think that the fabric chains are stapled together. I also think that they may have ironed the fabric on to interface, or glued the fabric on to poster board.
I am gong to try a stiff interface that I can iron the fabric onto.
Let me know what you come up with. Between the two of us I am sure that we can figure it out.
I love Branson. But it's been 30 years, so don't ask me where to go or what to do :)
I haven't been to Branson, but I hear that you shouldn't miss the Bass Pro Shop even if you're not the outdoorsy type. They have huge aquariums with live fish along with other interesting displays....and a great restaurant.
Going to any shows?
Branson is nice and very family friendly. I haven't been since I was a kid though...
Got the pillowcases in the mail today. They are even more gorj in person! THANK YOU!
I have never been to Branson but have heard some great things about it. That cabin looks so cozy!
Just stopped by from SITS! Happy SITS Day!
I live in Springfield, so Branson is where we hang out for fun with the kids. You can't leave without going to Silver Dollar City, which someone already mentioned, that would be so tragic. SDC is a one-of-a-kind theme park...fun for the whole family! The Dixie Stampede is another big attaction we enjoy. It's a dinner theater (food is awesome!) and you get to watch a show with horses and all sorts of other animals - very interactive and again, a great show for the family. There is great outlet mall shopping, which your teenagers will love, I'm sure. The Presley's or The Baldknobbers are a couple of shows that got Bransons "started" years ago. They are both good, too. Traffic is horrible on 76 - so stay off of it as much as you can. They've built new roads that feed into 76 and there are maps available everywhere, so it won't be difficult. Oh, and Branson Landing is also a new shopping area that is a little more high-end and very nice...pretty with fountains/statues, etc. Not quite as country feeling. If you want Bass Pro, you need to come to Springfield. The Branson store is nothing in comparison. Andy's frozen custard is THE best! Order whatever is in season fruit-wise, they always have great stuff. We love the concretes and jackhammers. Hope you are coming in the warm weather - it will be so much nicer! Have a great time!
