Random does it...

The yard needs to be mowed... I missed last weekend due to rain, now due to rain, it's overly shaggy. We'll have grass drifts when we actually get out there. And probably won't have time before Friday!
*****
Got to spar in Taekwondo last night. Forgot how much the back of my neck sweats...
*****
Got the county assessor people walking thru my house this week to see if they can find a way to raise my taxes...
*****
I've been looking at a recipe for Tasty Truffles all week now... It's been printed off from someone's blog and I don't remember whose, or I'd give you credit. HONEST! Man it looks good! And it's laying on top of my printer... It needs to make it to the kitchen and then my mouth.
*****
Got the high school report cards last night. I won't tell you how Maddy did because she'd be embarrassed... *shhh - but she done good.*
*****
Meri got a birthday invite in the same mail and has been flying high ever since. This is the one she picked out this suit for... She'd been ordered by this friend to get a polka dot swimming suit for the upcoming birthday party... So she did.
*****
Left work a wee bit early Tuesday to get a hair cut, then thought enough to call ahead and make sure it was for that day. Oops... It's Tuesday NEXT week... So we swung out to my best friends house to help her with a puzzle before Tkdo.
*****
Just got a new Ireland of the Welcomes mag in the mail and after paging through it at breakfast suddenly got very nostalgic... So before I went to work, Meri and I sat on the couch and went through our vacation album. Me reading all my chicken scratchings on each page. There were so many things that we had forgotten all about. Like how I had to climb under a bathroom stall door because she would not get off the toilet to open it for me... or how much her Aoife doll REALLY cost...
*****
I've got to get a gift for Meri's friend by Thursday... Not enough time or energy to sew anything. Guess I'll come up with something. What do you give a little girl who's turning 11? Makeup? dating advice? too soon for that, huh?
*****
Well - guess I'll have to go dig in my gift stash over lunch and see if I have something appropriate... Otherwise we'll have to go shopping a bit tonight.
*****
Have a wonderfully wandom Wednesday!

"Got the county assessor people walking thru my house this week to see if they can find a way to raise my taxes..."-dirty b******! Our taxes went up even though the value of our house went way down. Funny how that works!

Okay, now I am not jonesing for a house. I pay enough taxes without that. LOL!

I don't know what you get an 11 year old. IPad? Wii? IPhone?

Just kidding. LOL!

Don't even mention county assessment to me! I live in one of the most corrupt counties in the country it seems. W/out going into details I WISH they would reassess here and actually follow thru legally. Our taxes would go down....

At least I hope you got some livestock and a few bales of hay thrown around inside before they got there.lolol

I think we caught a lucky break. When we refinanced last year, our house appraised for several thousand more than when we bought it in 2006, and our taxes only went up a few dollars for the year.

I guess it might be because we have two houses on our block that have been empty for more than a year. My understanding is the neighborhood plays a part in the assessment, too, not just the house itself.

I wouldn't even be able to guess what to get an 11 year old. I'm having trouble figuring out what to get Kat for her 7th birthday.

The only do drive by assessments here. In the 18 years we've lived here not one county tax guy has been in and I want to keep it that way.
As for the 11 year old girl, that is a tough question. Never had to buy for an eleven year old girl before. I would go with some nice body lotion and liquid soap just because that seems to be my 'what else in the world would I get them?' gift....

good luck with the assessor - yikes!

Dude, your assessors actually walk through the neighborhood? Ours don't. They just jack the damn price up because it's a new year. Sucks.

I schmooze big time. Try it, especially if it's a man, although I can schmooze the ladies, too. Friendliness and a little smile with the nudge for them to be kind usually works. Trust me.

And what a beautiful yard by the way.

Gift certificates to Claire's is the stuff of dreams for 11 year olds.

They actually walk through your house? Wow! Ours can only come outside and look around. BTW, I have peanut butter pie posted this week if you are interested. :)
