Glam In Demand!

My youngest has a birthday party to go to this weekend! So of course, that means a gift must be procured...

I am determined NOT to spend extra money on gifts this year. 90% of our Christmas gifts WILL be handmade... Just trying to figure out what for each person and what time I can steal to do it all.

After talking it over with Meri, we decided on a covered bead necklace, similar to the one that I'm attempting to sell on Etsy. But Meri wanted purple. I had a blouse in my fabric stash that had too pretty of fabric to give away, so I cut into it for this.

The raw edges were fraying a bit, so I didn't want to do the flower pieces on it. As I looked around my sewing room looking for inspiration, my eyes hit on the wedding gown.

NOT MINE! Mine is cleaned and boxed up in the garage for the girls to wear someday if they want to.This one came from Freecycle.org. I had seen that someone was giving away 3 wedding gowns and I was able to snap up 2. Meri has dibbies on the train of this one, but I chopped out just a bit of the decadent pearl laced trim for my project!Do you know why wedding gowns are so expensive?! I do now! Every single pearl on this lace is sewn on individually... A hand needle went through every seed pearl twice! wow. It really makes me look at this dress twice.

The second time with a lot more respect for the underage underpaid kids who probably made it! May I EVER be that talented!!

I took the pearls off one.by.one. and then sewed them onto the necklace. Meri thought putting a strip on both sides, then the center. But after the headache of putting it just on the one side and then trying it on... I thought it looked pretty good. Pretty DARN good! We're giving this to her friend the way it is.The photo looks like the necklace is blue, but it's really a shiny deep purple. The lighting in my sewing room is lacking.

About this time, Maddy came in to saw goodnight and saw the necklace I was working on. COOL! She's thinking. Because what came out of her mouth was, "Hey... Hannah's birthday is today. Can you make her one? You've got til next week when she has her party. Same color."

I guess this necklace style is going to get a workout!

So I'm thinking about the necklace for some Christmas presents now for the girl relatives.

What do you think about this idea for some of the teen boys?A Superhero underwear wallet?! Cool, huh? Found it HERE.

I think that necklace would be a great gift for many of the female Christmas gift recipients.

As for the batman underwear wallet.....um....depends on the AGE of the recipient.lol

The necklace is very pretty! (As are you in your wedding pic!)

I can't wait to see what else you come up with for handmade gifts. I'm just not talented enough to do that.

The necklace turned out perfect! I like the wallet idea too :) Sometime, if you don't mind getting a little freaked out, go to Etsy and search "Grichel". I love Etsy, and peruse quite often for some entertainment and inspiration (although I won't be making any Grichel wallets, thankyaverymuch :)) -Tammy

Um....trying to figure out if the design encourages the carrying of a certain birth control item in the wallet...sorry, it was the first thing that popped into my head....hope I didn't ruin the idea!

The necklace is gorgeous! The pic of it doesn't look like a pic...it looks like a piece of art.

Wow! You really are talented! It's amazing. Anna would really love it at your house. She would be making things with you all the time. Instead, she is stuck with a mom that can't make anything!
Have a great weekend. I would say that I hope you have a quiet and peaceful weekend but that doesn't happen at your house!
