Oh my! So far this morning I've already pulled a programming miracle out of my elbow and am about to embark into another one. Another programmer for my company is on vacation this week, so things are a bit more hectic this week.
I gave the girls a to-do list this morning and they're cleaning the house! It helps to have the incentive of multiple friends staying overnight...
On a sad note... one of Meri's classmates was killed in a car accident the day after Christmas. She was pretty shook up about it even tho she didn't know him well. Just the thrust of mortality at such a young age really gets to you. Pray for that family will you?
On a uppier note... Maddy and I were going to go Sweetheart & Prom fabric shopping at ma and pa type fabric shops on Saturday, but really on New Years Day, I haven't found any open yet! So we'll probably hit JoAnns or Hancock... Bummer. We'll have to plan another trip for a non-holiday weekend.
Looks like we'll just have one kid to ring in the New Year tomorrow night. Maddy will be off with friends, so will Ryan. Now if we can just get Meri to stay over somewhere, then we can go to bed at 10! Nah - just kidding... Gotta have Robb play the bagpipes at midnight and SOMEONE needs to hold the flashlight... We've got a fan club now! Maybe I'll record it tomorrow night. Yep - in the dark...
The Christmas nativity puzzle is getting close to being done! Meri and I have been working hard on it and over Christmas, my SIL and nieces got a tremendous start on it.Last night, Meri and I made hoola hoops. YES! You heard me right! Hoola Hoops. Thanks Trudy!!! I know you can buy them at the Dollar store for a buck, but we invested in a couple PVC flexible tubes & colored electrical tape at the local hardware store. After a few mishaps, we finally figured out how to make it round and not a tear drop. So far, Maddy is the only one that can keep it going. She says the belly dancing lessons are really paying off... (She jokes... Not ONE lesson!) Ha Carma!! Meri and I are practicing more belly dancing moves tho, I tell you...Ok - enough break time! Back to work!

Bag pipes at midnight sounds interesting.....
Have fun with that shopping trip!
You better record the bagpipes at midnight, friend! Such a beautiful and lonely sound. :)
Um...what else, this post if full of random bits...oh, I know. I love Hancock. We don't have one near anymore but I used to go to Salem to go there and it was awesome. I never bought anything though but I liked looking at all the stuff.
When I was a senior in h/s we lost 4 classmates in 2 separate accidents the last weekend of spring break. It was horrible. I feel for Meri and her friends will be in my prayers.
I had forgotten about the bagpipes! Yes, you must record. Can you do that and hold the flashlight at the same time?
I came in 2nd in a hoola hooping contest once at a corporate picnic about 15 years go. I tried one about a year ago and have completely lost my HH mojo.
that is heartbreaking whether your close or not and i can very much relate so i send my sympathy! when i was her age, a girl died in our school(car accident) but i wasn't close to her (she was a grade ahead of us) but we cheered and we dedicated an award to her :) it's just very sad! and then each year i hear about students dying in car accidents like history repeats itself....my heart aches for them! give her kisses for me but don't say anything about it! just a smooch! love yas....be safe and happy prom fabric shopping
Sorry to hear about Meri's friend.
Have a wonderful New Year celebration!
Bagpipes??? That is so cool!!!! Waaay better than beating on pots and pans. You should for sure record it.
Have an Extraordinary Day!
We have had two young men killed in car accidents from our local high school during this past fall. It is a very sad thing and disturbing to their classmates. I think we may only have one kid home for new years as well.
