A New Years Resolution...

It's a little early for that, isn't it? But anyway... This morning Meri asked me if the jeans she was folding were hers.

Yep! That's your size and the L stands for Long.

She rolls them up a little at the hems and we discussed maybe taking the hem up and making the hem prettier, but I have a feeling she's going to put some height on her soon so maybe we shouldn't touch the hem. Then they'll last longer.

She thought that was a good idea. Especially following her next statement.

"Then if I can make all my jeans last for a really long time, then I'll make all the rest of my clothes. I don't want to buy anymore clothes!"

Wow. Really?! That would be awesome! AND save some money... But she really needs to learn to follow a pattern better and find a good fit for various clothing items. And I'm wondering when she's going to find time! I'll do my best to help her out of course, but wow.

She mentioned that a boy at school had commented on her clothes, mittens, etc and said that she always has such different clothes. She liked that comment and told him that I make all her clothes. Ummm not really... But the mittens, hat and maybe the shirt were from me.

So I guess that's her New Years resolution. Mine is to try to keep up with my kids sewing requests better.

Oh. and lose some weight...

Maddy has a Sweetheart ball and possibly prom dress in the near future for me to make and is already looking for ideas. And Easter is right around the corner... AHHH!! I'm stressing and it's not about Christmas!

That's great that she wants you to continue making her clothes. I remember when Rebekah asked me if we could buy her dresses at the store. She was 12. Of course, I agreed, but I sure was sad not to be able to sew for her anymore. Guess what? Now I get to sew for Nora and Rebekah requests items, too. It's coming around again.

I think it's awesome that your girls are so down to earth. They're not all, "Oh, I have to BUY something really expensive!"

I wish Kat would get some height on her. Poor little thing...all the jeans that fit are WAY long and I HATE hemming jeans. All the long-sleeved tops are also too long through the sleeves, but they are easier to roll up. I guess I should start making some her clothing. I have great intentions and really bad follow-through.
