I Can Micro Manage & Create A Monster.

Every spare minute is precious between now and Saturday night. Between getting the house ready to finishing Maddy's dress. Did I mention that 5 couples will be having dinner at my house before the dance on Saturday and probably their parents?

Oh and I still have to take the tree down... Most of the ornaments on it are off except for the ones above 6 feet. So half. Have you ever seen anything so naked? well, that's green? So anyway, my lunchtime today will be filled with attaching the 3 pieces of lace bits to make one big wide swath of lace. Then I'll be attaching it to the 2nd layer of the skirt portion. Probably hand stitch it on. There are 3 layers of the skirt...Last night after I finished the last hem, I had Maddy try it on. She looked lovely and after spinning around I noticed that the center layer polka dot layer had flipped over to the right making the part around the base of the zipper look kind of stupid. So I showed her how to make sure it was hanging straight and not to twirl.I guess that's like asking her not to breathe... Once the lace gets on, it should make it hang better...

Then I got an idea... If I can MAKE her look odd... then I may not have to make a prom dress this year.... hmmmm... So I also added, "Oh, make sure you pull one shoulder up, so they can't see where I screwed up on the side seam." "and lurch so they can't see the uneven hem..."

She started practicing and there were suddenly minor growling going on and dragging of one foot. Yes, my daughter decided that she was suddenly a zombie.
This is the sample piece of lace, so I could give my sewing group a gist of what it will look like. The lace will actually go all the way around.

Oh nevermind - just act normal, whatever THAT is! She'll look beautiful. Even as a zombie.

Do you get paid to sew or do you just sew for your family?

It's going to be great! Just tell Zombie Maddy not to drip any brains on the dress....

As for the tree...just hang some paper hearts on it and tell everyone it's your Valentine's day decorating....beats having to take it down in a rush, right?lol

That dress is gorgeous! And I agree with Slugmama to just decorate the tree for valentines day. :)

Have an Extraordinary Day!

Thanks so much for the link for making your own patterns from your clothing. Let us know how it goes.
