I don't mean to wear you guys out... But I'm not going to be the ONLY one pooped!
Maddy asked if I'd make her Easter dress early because guess what?!
She's being inducted in the NHS tonight! NHS = National Honor Society. Cool, huh?! I knew that she was already, but didn't know that she wanted to wear her Easter dress for it and that the induction was happening so soon...
It's the dress above with the sleeves from the one below.
So on Sunday after church, we went to JoAnn's again. The guy that works there is starting to know us on a first name/nickname basis... (Maddy is most likely known as the indicisive one and I am the rolling eyes one)
She picked out some fabric that she'd had her eye on for some time. On the way to the cutting table, I said, Hey, do you like this?
She did. She put back the one she picked out and we cut into my suggestion instead. Amazing huh? She took my suggestion!!
So from Sunday to now, I've been sewing this dress in every free minute I have, which hasn't been many... Each lunch break except for Monday where I had lunch at a friends. Each evening when there hasn't been a card making party, birthday dinner for hubs, Taekwondo or church. And even then I filled in before and after each event with doing at least one more thing on this dress. On the way and back from church last night I even did the hand sewing parts. Robb drove.
Tuesday I found out that the button holer part of my sewing machine wasn't working. I've NEVER had good luck with those anyway... I did a bit of exploring online and found an awesome tutorial on how to make bound buttonholes! If you're a sewing type person, go check it out! On a 15 minute break yesterday morning, I made a practice one or two. They came out sucky but doable. I knew if I did it on the actual dress though it would come out great...
So last night after church, Mads and I holed up upstairs and I did the bound button holes with solid orange fabric. Turned out pretty cute! And Maddy looks pretty cute in it too. I had been a little worried before I put the waist on that it was going to look like an old fashioned house dress... It doesn't.
So over lunch today and on any breaks I take, I need to finish up the handwork behind each button hole. I may just do a short cut and use invisible thread and machine stitch things together... Call me a corner cutter, or whatever fits.

I'm glad to know that you weren't sewing and driving!
