Calgon, Take Me Away!

I am not Wonder Woman. I'm just saying that right out.

The past several weeks and including this week have been scary busy. I have gotten a lot done & sewn for the wedding, but I work well under pressure. If the wedding would have been planned for next May, I would put everything off until April 10th and then scrambled.

Unfortunately, that's just how I roll...

There was an ASG (American Sewing Guild) event on Saturday from 9-3 (or so). I wasn't sure if I'd be able to make it, what with everything going on. But there was a designer coming for the presentation and I really didn't want to miss it. With the wedding dress done and the bridesmaids dresses pretty much done, I decided that I needed some time for me. So I went! I hadn't pre-registered, but they let me in anyway.
This is Cynthia Guffy. She was super! Her clothing and pattern line are pretty cool. The details that she uses and teaches will simplify and make my future sewing projects more professional looking. Too bad I didn't know one of her secrets the day before when I was making the bow for the back of Maddy's dress! But I used that tip on a project I did yesterday. more on that later... Maybe I'll do a tutorial on it next week.

If I remember. Where are my post-its?

SURE she talked about sewing, but to see other projects that aren't wedding related or things that I HAD to do this week was cathartic. It rejuvenated my creativity and I look forward to the days ahead when "I" can pick the project to work on! The seminar was awesome and I learned so many things that I hope to remember for future projects.

Like how to make buttonholes that aren't your ordinary button holes and look slick... How to adjust for big bosoms in my sewing, even though that's not really a problem when I sew.for.my.self...

Plus the new Burda magazine came in yesterday and that pumped up my creativity just a notch higher too.

So... I guess what I'm trying to say is... I AM taking a little time for myself these busy busy days. A few minutes or hours at a time.

OOh and before I forget, I wanted to show you the ring bearer pillow/dog harness I worked on over lunch yesterday. Got it fitted on the pooch last night and it's pretty sweet! The dog hates it, but hey... that's what the rest of this week is for. Getting used to the changing times... right?

I'm glad you got some time for yourself. That makes all the difference for me.
I rearranged my house the other day and I put my sewing machine where I now have to see it every day. I'm gathering my courage to try to sew something. I even brought my extra machine and my serger in from the shed. I probably need to get them looked at--cleaned and oiled--before I start any projects though.
It makes me tired just reading all you do each day--I should do half as much!! Take care.

I am so glad you went to the seminar! It is good to have time for one's own passion.
