S.A....T.U.R....D.A.Y!
On the morning of said day, Maddy went to the high school to get ready for her marching band performance in the parade for our local festivities. She and 5 other girls opened the parade with their singing of the national anthem, then they high tailed it back so she could drive over to where the rest of the band was congregating. A younger boy needed a ride, so she said he could ride with her.
There is some confusion, in my mind anyway... of how this happened, but he locked her car door as she yelled and lunged in slow motion, "NNNOOOOOOOO!!!!!...."
But it was too late.
Her car keys and cell phone AND part of her band uniform were locked inside. hmmph! Apparently he didn't realize she was coming back...
Needless to say, she was quite upset and made the boy get his own ride over, because she had to too and almost all the cars were gone by this time. A couple friends were still there so they helped her scrounge through the band room for a spare hat and jacket.
Did I mention she wasn't happy?!
Maddy had called us on a friends cell phone to let us know, but there would be no way before the parade for us to try and get into it. Nor could we do anything about it right after the parade because as soon as we could get our car out of town, we were heading to my aunt and uncle's 50th wedding anniversary in the next state, where we were going to be late to anyway!
So she had to be carless and phoneless until Sunday. PURE torture for a 17 year old...
The parade was lots of fun. We sat with friends and Robb's sister and her daughter came! Ryan and Tiffany surprised us by showing up with Leon, so I was able to show him off too. Meri collected enough candy for our road trip too.
LOOK! Reindeer!
The anniversary party was great! It was from noon to 3:30. We finally showed up at 2:30 and didn't even bother to change out of shorts because that would have made us even more late! But we hung out until 4:30 and visited with everyone there. I saw cousins that I hadn't seen since I was a kid and they were tickling me into stutters!
Got another chance to chat with my favoritest cousin!! She was posing for me but the camera was a smidgen too slow to catch her.
Her sister posed for me too!
We were given some leftover fruit salad in a plastic baggie! And I thought we had car spoons but someone must have cleaned the car out... So we stopped at Kum & Go and got one. Did I share?
no.
Sunday afternoon, we headed over to get the car unlocked. Armed with a jack iron, a wooden spoon and a wire coat hanger, I knew we would have success.
When I was in college, I locked my keys in the car so often, that I kept a wire coat hanger under the back bumper. Nowadays I only buy cars with a key code panel on the door... It's much easier that way.... IF you remember the code.
So anyway, the girls were on the opposite side of the car and Robb and I tussled with the door on the drivers side. Just when I thought I got the hanger good and stuck and useless, the girls suddenly exclaimed, "IT'S UNLOCKED!!! YOU DID IT!!!"
Wha?...
Wow. We had done it! In less than 5 minutes... We are THAT good!!!
Now I'm nervous.. It was TOO easy...

Wooden spoon?????Damn my mind is running with thoughts about what you would use that for!
If I ever hear about a car theft ring operating in Iowa, I'll know who to turn into the police....lol
Reindeer!! Fun.
So you're good at breaking into cars is what you're saying....
You should steal cars for a part time job. You would be good at it.
I'm exhausted after reading your post and I'm intrigued by your car-entry abilities. You should write a blog or something about your adventures. ;) Happy Monday! Hope it's uneventful.
But....can you hot wire it after you get into the thing? lol
5 minutes?! I guess you could steal cars for a side job. heehee
You must be darned good. The last time I locked my keys in the car (I was taking the SAT's) it took the police to open it. Needless to say that I had to re-take the SAT's - I was too worried about the locked keys to concentrate.
BTW - Love that sweet baby face!
