Were YOU that little boy?!

Once upon a time there was an adorable little boy named Sam, Sammy, Sam-wise, whatever...  I was in college and since I lived at home while in school, I got to hang around him and his older brother and sister a lot.  They were my very first nephews & nieces out of oh so many nowadays!  So we spoiled them silly.
Sam and Ryan with the biggest pumpkin in the world!  Grown in my parents garden and stolen from our front porch.

When Sam was around 2, I took him out to college with me on the weekends if I needed to pick something up at the year book office or just to show him off. He was such a cutie!  Some of my friends, that I THOUGHT knew me, would ask if he was my son...  REALLY!?  You've known me the last four years of my life.  WHEN did you see me with a prego belly??  But then again, a friend of mine in the computer department wore baggy sweats all the time and I was shocked when invited to HER baby shower...

But no.  Sam was NOT mine.  I remember once when driving him back to him home, he said, "OOps!  Better slow down, there's a cop!"  Wonder where he learned that??!  His dad denied it, so we have other suspicions...

The main story about Sammy that I was going to tell was a about 1 or 2 years later.  Robb and I were married and living about 3 hours away.  For some reason we had Thane, Naomi and Sam here for about 3 days.  Must have been a long summer weekend.  We had such a blast with them!  Robb taught them how to heckle golfers whenever we passed the golf course.  "Hey Golfer Golfer!  Eat My Shorts!"  *we watched a lot of The Simpsons back then...*
Why, I don't remember, but we had to drive 2 cars back to my home town when taking them home.  Thane and Naomi rode with Robb in one car and Sammy rode with me in Robb's Malibu.  He wasn't happy about it...  I think he would have much preferred to ride with his brother and sister...
I kept him happy for as long as I could, but about a third of the way through our journey, Sam started getting REALLY mad and kicking the passenger door and grumbling....  "I'm going to break this car up into little bits!!!!"  Seriously, I think his head spun around and he was spitting pea soup as he uttered that guttural sentence...  It scared me!

Oh dear!

No cell phones in those days!  But luckily we had arranged to stop for a bathroom break in Sac City.  Whew!  Give me Mamie!!!! (Naomi to you.)

Sammy has grown up since then.  I have no idea what he does for a living in Colorado but know it involves bikes and lots of bike races.  He's very energetic and loves to travel all over the world.

And to my knowledge, he is no longer possessed.

I pray they have a wonderful marriage!  The best is yet to come!

I bet when he was little you told him you were going to remember this and remind him of it when he got bigger. Or at least that's what I told my kids, when they were growing up ;o)
