So we scheduled a time.
I went last night. Filled out the paperwork, talked with nurse, let her poke my finger and take a smidgen of blood. We chatted some more and then the results of my finger prick came back.
Iron level - 86%...
It's the low end of normal for women but needs to be 88% in order to give blood.

You know that feeling as you walk out of the blood drive bus with blood intact in full view of the kids and parents of kids that you know, who are successfully having their blood drained?... Do you feel like rumors are going to start to fly now? Some of those questions on the form get pretty personal about certain aspects of your life!

Aw....next time have liver and onions before you go.
Or just go gnaw on your fireplace andirons first... ;-)
Don't feel bad. I was rejected because my veins were too small for the needle. No joke.
I've been rejected before too. My was because my blood pressure was too high. Now that I do have high blood pressure and take medication for it, I don't donate :o(
I think no less of you! And that would be because I have never been good enough to give my blood. Well they didn't say that, they said that I have a heart murmurer and didn't want to kill me. I know your pain or lack of needle pain to be exact.
At least you tried :) I know I *should* at least try to give blood. One of my (many) guilt trips. At least you know that you need some iron.. and you didn't have to make a co-pay to find out ;) -Tammy

Be thankful you were rejected ;-)
Have a great night!
blessings,
Jill
