Last Saturday, my two girls, Tiffany & Leon & I went to the fair. Tiff said, "Let's park at my Grandpa's! He only lives a few blocks away and we can save on parking!"
It was a mile away... We measured it later! Poor Tiffany, she felt bad. When she was 15 and walking all over town, it didn't seem that far... Our feet were killing us by the time we got to the fair grounds. But no matter!! We were determined to see if we got any ribbons! We shoved, pushed and kicked our way through the Varied Industries building to get to the sewing area.
There was a HUGE percentage of entries from our ASG guild alone! What a great turn out!
Below is Tiffany's wedding gown and Mad's bridesmaids dress from my sewing last summer. I got 3rd place on the red dress!
Then on Maddy's Sweetheart ball dress I got 4th place!
On the blouse I made for a nephews wedding a while back, I didn't place at all, but here it is. Can't wait to see what comments there are!Maddy's prom dress is in there, but I don't remember if it placed or not. I don't think so... And I can't tell from my photo... In case you don't remember, it's the yellow one, back left.
Meri got 4th place on her hoodie with the bunny ears!
And 3rd place on her shorts!
Leon just impressed us with his ability to hold his own bottle now! He's growing up too fast!
We then visited the butter cow, ice sculpture and other things made of butter. Yep, that's Snow White and the 7 dwarfs! You have to wonder what they do with all that butter after the fair.
I'm thinking toast....
Meri and I rode on the gi-huge-ic ferris wheel that held gondolas. It took several minutes for Meri to get the nerve to look out of our gondola...
When she finally did, she noticed something else that she wanted to ride on even more! But we didn't have time and couldn't get Maddy on her cell phone for a while. Also, $5 a ride??! puh-leeze...
Someone asked yesterday, just what the fair was this??! FAIR FOOD!!!
The line at the "Butter on a Stick" place stretched out into the road, so we opted for chocolate covered bacon! We can SO make this at home... Cook bacon on a skewer, then dip it in Hershey's syrup...
And oh my goodness! It's actually quite tasty! Maddy took a hideous picture of me eating my choco-baco on a stick and she is in gi-huge-ic trouble if she posts it on FB... I looked like a beast. And we didn't even get a napkin!!!
Leon got all milked over and went back to Great-Grandpa's earlier than we did.
Tiffany brought the car within walking distance to pick us up. And I'm SO glad she did... The girls were talking about that one Grimms Fairy tale where the little girl wanted the little red dancing shoes so badly and when she finally got them she couldn't stop dancing. The shoes wouldn't let her. She danced for days and days. Finally when she couldn't take it anymore, she found a wood smith to cut off her feet.
The girls thought cutting off their feet sounded pretty good...
Me too...

Congrats on all the ribbons.
And I don't know about the choco-baco. Seems like a waste of perfectly good bacon to me.
People are always so leery of bacon and maple or bacon and chocolate...hello...it's a match made in heaven. Sweet/Salty. YUM!!!
I'm so proud of everyone! Hooray butter sculptures! The cow is something I have explained to several friends lol
Congrats on the ribbons!
As for the chocolate covered bacon, thank goodness that's what it was. My sick mind thought it was raw, bloody flesh.......Yes, my mind is sick.....
I seriously love the green of that blouse you made. Good job!
And with everything I ate today. I feel like a "butter-cow" myself!
m.
Your nephew wore that blouse to his wedding?!? Seems a strange choice but hey...... hehehe
Congrats on all your ribbons and Meri's too!
Congratulations on your wins! The displays are so professional, and it sounds like you had fun.
Congrats on all the ribbons! You make me want to sew!
And I would love to have one of those butter dwarfs for my freezer.
