But anyway... On Saturday was my ASG American Sewing Guild special event of the year. We enjoyed a presentation by Londa Rohlfing. The morning was spent with Londa showing us how to make jackets out of sweatshirts.
You can NOT tell these used to be sweatshirts... Seriously... WAY cute.
In the afternoon, she showed ways to jazz up simple t-shirts and tanks into one of a kind creations. SO many ideas flashed before my eyes during the trunk show. I only hope I remember a few of the techniques because I'm starting to get an idea for a prom dress...
Since that day was also Maddy's birthday, as I told you about yesterday... I left an hour before it was over, so I could see the birthday girl for at least an hour or so before her friends came to kidnap her.
Yes... They called me to ask permission that morning! How many kidnappers do THAT?!
And Meri wasn't feeling so hot and during the afternoon session took a nap in one of the lounge areas of the building anyway, so I woke her up and we headed out.
Because of my dress for the wedding/cat debacle that I told you about on Friday, which will be known from this moment on as "That Darn Cat, Which Must Be Killed, Incident", aka TDCWMBKI and is pronounced as it's spelled, a fellow sew-ist took pity on me!
I have a few readers from my group...
*blush*
She gave me a bunch of magazines that she'd already read. A sewing mag that I'd admired at one of our past meetings that she'd shown and I'd never heard of before. And I got a hug! If you're reading this, I thank you again!!! Judy - You're a sweetie!
As soon as I get time to relax, I'm going to plug in my headphones, dig out my reading glasses and zone into sewing land dreaming with my new mags...
Oh and a shout out to Sonya Ann from A Mom, Money and More. I won a giveaway a few weeks ago on her blog and won $20! She sent a check, which I was going to get a picture of and show it here, but didn't get time. She's probably relieved... Thank you Sonya! It went to a good cause!

Ummm thank you for not posting a picture of my check! You are a goof and I still know where you live.
I'm quite surprised that kidnappers have such great manners.
I use to make those jackets a long time ago! Though I have to say her jacket looks more fashionable than the ones I made. Mainly because mine were for teachers so it was covered in teacher print ;o)
I am always so enamored of your sewing efforts. I can barely thread a needle.
Yes take time to to enjoy.
Leann
