Adult birthdays

My middle child became an adult over the weekend! Her friends kidnapped her on Saturday night and took her out to eat and a movie. They almost dragged her out of the house without a coat or shoes... Nice of them to stop for a second so I could snap a pic tho! She had to keep the bag over her head the entire way there and was so realistic that a car followed them for a while thinking she was in danger.
Ahhh... Good ol' Good hearted Iowans!

On Sunday night we celebrated as a family.

Got the dining room totally disinfected and it cleans up pretty well! ALL my sewing stuff is OUTTA THERE! And stacked in a heap on my sewing table in my bedroom. *someday I'll have a sewing room... someday...*

Maddy had originally chosen Shepherds pie as her birthday dinner, but got sick during Sunday school and we had to leave before the service started. Our plans changed to shepherds pie for the well ones and chicken noodle soup for anyone feeling sickly or who just wanted some.

She was feeling better by then but since chicken noodle soup is one of her faves anyway, it all worked out.

She got a cd she wanted, money, a couple fun t-shirts that she'd mentioned once would be cool (we keep our ears open)

and then her big gift was a Keurig coffee machine.

She is in heaven! And had several cups of tea last night to try it out. Then couldn't decide which shirt to wear to school today amidst the tons of coffee she'd already enjoyed this morning.

The old coffee machine has been relegated to a closet in the laundry room and will make an appearance again almost one year from now when Maddy is off at college with the Keurig. I keep wanting to call it Kurgen.. Not sure why.
But anywho..

Happy birthday to my girl! We love you!

Neat birthday gifts. Kat would love the Dr. Who shirt, and I would love the Keurig (although I didn't start drinking coffee until my mid-20s).

Are those Spree candies on her cake? I love Spree...

PS: Happy Birthday, Maddy!

it looks like a fabulous time was had by all! Two words on the Keurig: chai latte. Oh, and apple cider. That's four more words, but you get my drift.

Happy Birthday Maddy! Sorry to hear that she wasn't feeling well.

College next year? It happens quickly doesn't it!?!

Hope that she enjoys her senior year!

My son, who moved back in, bought a Keurig machine for the house too. I love it but hate the cost of those darn cups. Yes we have one where you can add your own coffee but we hardly use it. Instead I'm spending WAY too much money on the boxes and boxes and boxes of cups: twenty bazillion types of coffee, hot chocolate, tea, vanilla, caramel. All of them good except for that raspberry tea :o/ Think I'll send it your way, I have the address....
