I have upgraded my blogspot account so I won't abandon what I've written so far and I won't have to learn anything new!! WOohoo!
I just don't have time to right now...
Anyblog... Here is my dress as far as Monday night. I've got my adjustable mannequin stacked up on top of an upside down basket on top of the ironing board so I won't have to sit on the floor.
Trust me...
It's REALLY safe...
And the iron is hot...
But what I wanted to show you is the hand basting that I did. Not sure if you can see it in the photo above. I basted the lining to the main fabric loosely all the way down the right princess seam to the slit.
You know why?
My seam ripper does!
I had felt confident that I knew what I was doing, but I didn't really... And the top of the slit was a bungled up mess, so I had to rip it out and redo with a little lot of thought.
After hand basting the lining to the fabric all the way down the seam to the slit, so that I wouldn't make the same mistake twice, I hand basted the lining to the fabric all the way down each side of the slit. Then turned the skirt side ways inside out and stitched them with the machine. It is looking SOO much better now!
Oh - someone asked if I'd put the sleeves in backwards. Nope... I always check and double check the notches for that sort of thing. The reason they're looking a little wonky is because they're lined. I may rip a few handstitches from the lining portion of it for the sleeves to lay a little flatter.
And when I try it on again, you may not even notice... Because on the manny, they're just kind of hanging there. I think they need arms in them to make them look better...
So last night I took out all the basting and am sweating over the hem. The thing that I dreaded most will probably happen. I'll be hand stitching the hem in the car...
Like when I was gluing the lace onto my wedding dress the night before...
Isn't life annoyingly predictable sometimes?

It's really looking nice though so far!
This creation is looking more high class dress-like every day!
What month is this wedding?lol
Even if you had months left I think you'd still be up to the last minute tinkering with it. Some people thrive on that time challenge thing....like me!lol
why did you need to upgrade the blogger acct so as not to lose things? I'm confused...
I have faith that you will totally succeed with the dress. You have talent!!
EEEEWWWW hand stitching is not something I find fun :op
I am much more handy with the glue than the needle/thread. The dress is looking good!
It looks great but my sewing lingo is...................ummmmm...............lacking!
