Santa is a Scary Dude...

On Saturday night, all the girls, Leon and myself braved the wintery roads and went to Jolly Holiday Lights display in Des Moines.  Totally secular with the exception of a couple angels, but the lights were beautiful. 

I was surprised to find out that outer space aliens enjoy Christmas as well!  I had NO idea!  There were a plethora of lights with them too.

 

As we drove slowly through the miles of lights, we let Leon sit on laps.  He had a bad rash and we barely made it to the park before he blew a gasket and blew out his diaper... *which I think is still under the front seat in my car... frozen...*

 

At the end of the display was Santa's house and you could buy candied pop corn, souvenirs and of course sit on Santa's lap if you wanted. 

 

The girls decided not to...

 Since we had my camera with us, I opted to take our own pictures.  It cost the same, but we could leave sooner if we wanted to.

 

We've never been big on Santa, but Tiffany wanted Leon to enjoy him, so ok.  Tiffany had the camera and I handed Leon off to Santa who set him on his lap.  Leon had no clue who was holding him.  I jingled some bells to get him to look at us.

 

Suddenly the light bulb went off in Leon's head.  You could see his realization!  Maddy and Meri are sitting by the wall...  So if Mommy is taking the pictures and Grandma is jingling some bells... then WHO is holding me!!??!?!?!  He turned around and saw Santa.  His chin and bottom lip started to quiver and he burst into tears.  I was about to grab him but at the same time, yelled to Tiffany to keep taking pictures.  TAKE IT!!!  TAKE THE PICTURE!!!

 

Santa's little helpers, I think, thought we were pretty mean. lol...  But we got some great shots and it was totally worth it!
