Who's the Jerk Now?

I"m going to tell you what I got my husband for Christmas...  He already knows because it's.after.Christmas...

I got him a Sodastream.  What's that?!  Basically a machine that carbonates water to which you add whatever flavorings you want to make your own pop.  Pretty cool huh?  There are 12 samples that come with it and one of them is Diet Dr. Pete, which is supposed to be equivalent to Diet Dr. Pepper.  And it's not too far off!  A little less flavoring than what they suggest perhaps and then probably more like it.

Last night he cracked open the box and we all tried out a few different flavors.  DDP of course...  The Orange is great!  The Fountain Mist (aka Mountain Dew) is ok.  I'm not a big Mt Dew fan anyway...

But he's a self proclaimed "Jerk" now!  As in Soda Jerk, but he abbreviated it.

Tonight Maddy is having some friends over for a movie night so Robb is going to pick up some more flavoring stuff today for them for their beverages.  There were just samples that came with the box.  I think they're going for Orange and Root beer.

So in giving a gift to a man... They're instantly thinking about ways to save MORE money by using this than buying pop.  Have you ever heard of using a paintball canister instead of the actual carbonation canister?  I hear there's an adaptor for it.  Apparently it's CO2 also and only costs a couple dollars as opposed to $30 but we can get it for half off that, so $15.  I'm a little worried...  I guess I watched too much Tim the Toolman Taylor growing up and Red Green...

Anyway, I'm not getting paid to tell you this stuff.  This is NOT a commercial!  Just sharing.  Within 2 canisters that each make about 60 liters of pop, this should pay itself off.

Unfortunately my husband will be taking it to the office to keep there, starting next week.

Now the rest of us want one at the house too.  We've been spoiled...

It'll take a LOT of canisters to make this break even now...

My son had one (wife still has it and won't let him have it), and we tried the diet coke.
I didn't like it.....

A CO2 cannister should work just fine.

Yours is the first actual review I've read about Sodastream. I'm glad you like it. I doubt we'll get one because we're trying not to drink a lot of soda, but it sounds like it might save some bucks for those who do.

Anytime a man says he is going to convert something, I panic. I have seen some $xxx in my day.

This is the first review I have read about this. I thought they were pretty interesting, but no one I know has one so I can try it out!

Love the idea of saving money but I too watched Tim the Tool Man:)

Glad that he's loving the gift!

We had one a few years ago but just couldn't get 'into it', nothing tasted quite right except the root beer!
