As SOON as I got off work yesterday, we hit the road. Meri, Leon, Grandma and I headed to Maddy's Honor Choir concert about an hour away, hitting fast food on the way. Luckily the assistant manager at Burger King knew how to get to the high school because I was spelling the name of it wrong and my GPS didn't know what I was talking about...
It's one thing to hear a condescending tone from your GPS, like when she says "Recalculating...", but to get the deer in the headlights look as if you're speaking Greek is totally another.
These are kids who have tried out and been selected from 6 or 7 high schools in the area to sing together. They've been practicing and learning the music at their own schools and then come together on the day of the concert to work together on it. They sounded awesome...
About 15 kids from our school just for the choir part alone. Then about 15 more for the band.
Leon got to sit on our high school choir director's lap during the concert. She ASKED! And he was being so adorable... He even flirted kind of with a 19 month old in the hall during the band portion of the concert.
Tonight is Meri's turn. She was selected for the Middle School honor choir and will be performing then. I was supposed to get her up early, but forgot... So she was scrambling and I was french braiding hair like crazy so she could have wavy hair for the concert. She'll be spending most of the day at the high school where the performance is.
I hope Leon can join us tonight too! He's a hit with the elderly... heck, any ages!
