Oh yay... SEW not my...

Hey - prayer request for my mom.  On Friday after feeling weak for a few days, went to see her doctor and was soon admitted to the hospital to receive 5 units of blood.  Apparently she was so low on blood that they were concerned she wouldn't make it through the night!

She went home on Saturday feeling on top of the world.  Fresh blood will do that for you.  I spoke with her yesterday and she's feeling good and sounding good.  But the doctors are stumped as to where the blood went...  So more tests over the next week to check things out.  After my giving blood last week, it makes me feel good knowing that someone somewhere will get some serious good out of it.  And that I'm a wuss for complaining about my light headedness...

Can't wait to see them over spring break!

In other news...  I was supposed to play along with a tag that Mimi did last week, but that will wait until another day this week.  Sorry Mims!

I got a lot of sewing in this weekend!  The dining room table looked terrible, but out of such chaos comes beauty.  no?  Maddy's friend brought her prom dress over and I tore it apart at the seams to make it fit her better.  After 1.5 hours, she looked fab!  And I think she was getting tired of trying to keep up the chit chat with me...  But all ended up good.

When she left, Robb, Leon and I attempted to go out to eat at a popular restaurant in the next town, since we had a gift certificate burning a hole in our pocket.  It is SO popular that the parking lot was jammed at 5pm and there was at least a 40 minute wait for a table.  Ummm... That doesn't work well when you have a sleeping baby in tow who is apt to wake up at any time and demand immediate attention!  So we ordered our food to go and took it home.  So much for ambiance...

Also that day, I also found lots of samples of fabric for Maddy's prom dress from our local JoAnns.  6 inches for some, 2 inches for others.  As soon as we can shovel ourselves out of town, we'll pick up the necessary quantities of each needed and get going on this project!  She has chosen a black mesh with gold flecks in it.  It's very pretty!  Not sure if you can tell the gold in this photo...

Then that night I started on two projects.  One only took about 15 minutes.  and the other the rest of that night and part of Sunday night.  Can you guess which one was which?  I was just inside and the girls are making more of the bottles right now.  I hope they remember to keep the counter comPLETELY covered with newspapers, because I learned an important lesson...  These will be filled with flowers and be center pieces for Maddy's graduation party.  I'm glad I saved about a dozen of the sparkling cider bottles!  These are not from booze...

I'm making the long sleeved rounded neckline tee.

While I was getting the serger set up with the right colors, Leon toddled over and showed an interest.  So we cut out a big square of the knit fabric and he helped me serge himself a new book bag to haul around the house.  It's not just books he puts in...  I think a couple cans of cat food are in it now too.

Then came Sunday...  Pouring rain all weekend and then the temp took a dive.  The girls were still out of town, 4 hours away with a couple cousins.  After some miscommunication about WHEN they were supposed to leave to come home, they finally hit the road after waxing something with their aunt.  We were hoping ahead of the blizzard that ensued.  They weren't so lucky.  Maddy and Meri got within 3 miles of home and slid the car into the ditch when at our exit from the interstate.

Accidents happen closest to home...

No kidding...

We met them at the local convenience store when a highway patrol brought them in.  And then we discovered the tire on our car was flat...  Luckily we were within 15 feet of the free air pump thingy there, so we just pumped it up and took it home.

This morning, I ran the snow blower and Robb changed the tire.  We attempted to drive out and get some things out of Mads car, but the plows hadn't been around in our town yet and the snow was still coming down.  We tried twice!  SO... Robb is telecommuting today and the girls are out of school babysitting.

Leon is NOT spoiled!  We just give him what he wants before he has to ask for it.

It's called preemptive babysitting...

Praying for mom. That's scary stuff.
Preemptive babysitting? Great call!

It's like spring here. One day's worth of snow was plenty for these parts.

So glad we didn't get hit by the weekend snow. We had rain most of Saturday night and Sunday, and STILL there is a little bit of snow left on the ground here and there. I'm so ready for it to be gone.

Hope your mom continues to feel well. :)
