On Saturday, I spent the morning raking the yard and landscaping. My shoulders screamed at me all evening... Got to get the house ready for the graduation party and Saturday was the first day nice enough to do some out door work! Maddy got home from babysitting and she helped me scrape and paint some railing spindles for a little while.
Right around noon-ish... I remembered that I was supposed to make homemade french garlic bread for the prom dinner and have it to the hosts house by 4... While the bread machines spun and warmed the dough, I managed to start to stressing...
At 12:25, we realized that we'd forgotten to pick up the corsage and boutonniere at the florist and they close at 12:30! Robb was almost out the door when I called the florist and they said they were staying open until 2 today. WHEW!
I did her hair and stressed that I may not be doing it how she wanted it
and she was just saying it looks good to make me feel better and shut me up. She was wondering if she should talk with a Swedish accent...
While
Tiffany did Maddy's makeup, I whipped up a matching cross body purse for her to stow her phone and id in. Then ironed the dress and stressed if it's in the
same league as the other dresses at the prom... Do you ever worry about
things like that?
After baking the bread in the oven, I threw it in the freezer to cool. Cut it up and worried that the pieces were too small and the kids would say with an awkward smile, "Maddy... cute bread..."
I stopped at the store before dashing to the host's house, which was actually her date's house and picked up more french bread, because I found that I'd forgotten to turn one of the bread machines actually on... So I only had two loaves...
The bread fiasco actually turned into a feeding of the five thousand miracle because we left their house with more bread than we came with. And some fish... (I kid about the fish...) :P
When I finally
showed up, Maddy asked, "where are the flowers??" GASP! They're in the
fridge at home!!! Robb came to my rescue... AGAIN... and had them there in 15
minutes.
I took the indoor pictures along with a huge mass of other parents. Then got the garlic buttered bread into the oven to broil a little with a stove that I wasn't quite sure how to use. It took longer than I thought... And the bread had to be babysat while they took outdoor pictures. I missed out on that but Meri was along and did those for me.
After dinner, Meri and I ran a couple errands then hung out at the high school to catch the Grand March.
FUN! It was a circus theme. I was beginning to worry that I should have made Mads a prom dress with more red and yellow... with a big red nose.
I know what you're thinking... SHEESH HE'S TALL! I KNOW! She barely came to his shoulder... I had to turn the camera just to fit them both in!
He's only a Sophomore but she's not being a cougar!! Just smart because the younger guys are safe, naive and easily manipulated....
Here is the back and you can't even see the buttons going down the dress... Dang!
She was beautiful and all worries (at least about prom) are gone!
Now to stress about the graduation party and the cost of college...

She looked wonderful!
Yikes on the cost of college, so glad those years are now behind me :o)
She is gorgeous! And the dress is out of this world perfect.
And I understand your stress. Good luck with the college bill and prepare not to sleep. Just remember that if she has to take out a loan that is ok. She will have enough time to pay it off. At least, that is what I tell myself about Anna and her loans.
Val, seriously, how do you do it all and stay so fabulous?! Love the hair, the dress, everything!! Enjoyed the down-lo on the prom as well. (She's a beauty!) Those days seem ages ago - our son is now 31. Sheesh! Please take a moment and *ohmmmm* - you've earned it ;) -Tammy
At least I'm not alone in the stressing and forgetting. I love that hairdo! You did a great job. I'm glad you got a picture of it.
Now you can rest just a little?
Gorgeous, gorgeous dress! That open back is so beautiful. And I love her hair!!! I wish I had anything approaching enough hair to do something like that. I'm lucky just to get a ponytail.
Love the hair! Love the dress! She's absolutely beautiful!
