Memories will Getcha!

Memories can catch you off guard sometimes and you'll remember something you hadn't thought about in years...  Many because of your olfactory senses... your nose.  But others from various other prompts.

The smell of lilacs at Grandpa & Grandma P's shaded and shaggy overgrown fenced in yard.

Some of my sisters and I playing for church.  I'm on the left.

The smell of peonies at (the other) Grandpa & Grandma P's front steps of the parsonage.

Dad and Grandpa J.  I'm the shortest on the right. Pixie hair cut!

The smell of maple candy bar seconds that your boss at the grocery had you bag up.  Actually a few songs of the 80s revive this memory too.

I'm the one behind my brothers leg.

The feel of a parent stroking your hair back over your ears as you lay with your head on their lap during church.

The feel of your clothes getting stuck on the hot hot pews and leaving your butt imprint in the paint.

Laying on the window sill during a church service and watching a fly buzz in.
I'm on the left.  With the FAB purse!

The creak of the stairs leading up to the girls bedrooms of our old farm house.

Laying next to the fallen basketball hoop post, following the trails in the sky left by airplanes and dreaming of flying some day.

Dragging your feet in the soft warm dirt as you rode on the back of your dad's tractor as he plowed the acreage.

Sitting in your favorite tree, swinging your legs and making memories of your summer.

I think this was the last time all of us siblings were together!  I'm the pregnant one 2nd from the right.
Well... maybe 2nd to the last time...

I hope my kids are enjoying their summer.  Lots of changes coming up and I hope they make enough memories in the next couple months to tide them through.
