Fails and Inspirations

A few years ago, I missed the deadline to enter my sewing projects into the State fair for judging.

It happened again!  Apparently...  the last Saturday of July is THE day to enter your entries.  Who knew?!

I guess everyone but me...  You'd think I could stay on top of things like this...

Anyway, I attended the pattern testers meeting last night and showed what I WOULD have shown.  Eh - they've seen it all before.   Prom dress, sweetheart ball dress.  You have too.

We'll check out the fair stuff anyway tho.  I need photos of some projects entered for the next newsletter, for which the deadline is looming in the not too distant future.  And I don't have much collected yet.  Any ideas out there for a tutorial or craft I could put in it?

I'll figure out something.  Usually I worry about content quantity and then suddenly the newletter is so full, I can't jam a single more thing into it without causing bodily injury.

At the meeting last night, there were so many things to get inspired about!  I didn't take pictures of any of them, BUT I did of a few of the patterns that they made the garments out of.

This bag was SO well done!  One of the members had made it and it would make an excellent laptop bag besides just a purse.  CUTE...

The back of this vest is the main attraction!  angular seams with striped fabric (black on black) made this a showstopper!

This shirt was made from some vintage print and the front seams are really intricate!  So cute!

The example that the sewist made this with made the bottom side flaps the same fabric as the top she wore underneath it.  I HAVE to make this one!

Did you know that dresses that are higher hemmed in the front and longer in the back are called a "Mullet" dress?  I did NOT know that!  This example of a dress was adorable!

Here's to inspiration and time to sew!

So where are the photos of the actual garments they made?
Are these folks' clothes camera shy? lol

Mullet dress? Hum I remember my mom saying it was a sign of the seamstress having too much of a touch of the bottle........;o)

That vest design is quite popular around here, but with sleeves so it is a cardigan. LOVE the bag! As a teacher I can never have enough of them! lol

I'm liking the vest. Not to make but to buy. Yeah yeah I know, I should learn to sew!

I just finished altering a pattern for a "mullet" dress (I prefer "high-low," you know, for classiness)--now I have doomed the trend for sure! Sorry you missed the fair deadline. :-/ Next year!
