The Bare Necessities of Life

I got the yen to get a turtle covered sandbox for Leon...  He had really enjoyed one at one of the graduation parties we'd attended and I figured maybe he was past eating the stuff.

So I got on Freecycle and asked if anyone had one sitting around that they didn't want anymore.  Someone did!  Saturday I went to pick it up and then stopped at Lowes for 2 bags of play sand.  They're 50 lbs apiece and now I know why I didn't become a professional weight lifter.

Yikes.  If it was a 50 lb kid, at least they hang onto you!

We've had a blast with it over the weekend and I've relaxed so much with sand under my toes that I've become totally lazy.  What should have been a weekend full of sewing  became a weekend full of grandchild.
And that is not a complaint at all!  I love the little guy.  We read a stupid book over and over and over.  I will complain about that book.  How stupid do they think kids are??

We hit a garage sale of a friends on Saturday morning and came away with a potty chair, easel that turns into a desk, a little chair that sings to you and some clothing for him as well as several other items.

Meri and Leon at a garage sale do not mix...  The little chair that he fell in love with that sings to you and spoke to her cost $8.  I barely got everything jammed into the car along with the turtle sandbox and then still managed to squeeze in some groceries.

Where there's a will, there's a way!

And then Maddy found the camera.

She got her packet from college, knows what room she'll be in as well as which parking lot she's been assigned.  And now knows what she can and cannot take to college with her.  She's been in a college minded mode all weekend and talked her dad into helping her find a used tivo on Ebay.

Yep, that item was NOT on the list of things that she shouldn't bring...  And apparently it's a necessity!

The bare necessities of life will come to you

When my third son went to college his second year, his main necessity was a HUGE tv (50 inches). He spent his own money so I can't complain but it was considered the norm in the dorms.

We were gifted one of those turtle sandboxes. I bought sand for it and now it sits. It's been so hot and the mosquitoes so bad, that we haven't been able to get the girls in it yet. Soon! Just a little while longer and she'll be a college student. Wow.

Meri and Leon are so cute together. Glad he is enjoying the sandbox.
