We're Going To The Zoo Zoo Zoo!

I hope everyone had a fabulous Independence Day!

On Wednesday night, we watched fireworks from our deck and had leftover steak.  I didn't get one single s'more!  I think I know what I'm having for lunch...

Leon awoke and enjoyed the fireworks with us.

The next morning we climbed into the family truckster with a movie for the road and hit it.

Well, after several false starts that included running back in the house for sun glasses, ibuprofen and then later with a flat tire...

We finally got to the zoo!!  Leon loved it!  Maddy got a ton of pictures taken for 4H and I think this one is pretty epic!  Too bad his shorts are hiked up on one leg...  Maybe she can crop that out.

Meri doted on her sweet nephew and spent a fortune on him.

She bought him a camel ride, which as you can tell, he didn't like all that much when it started out.  But was upset when we had to pull him off it 5 minutes later when the ride ended.  Meri bought him a stuffed camel to commemorate it and he tries to throw it away...

Can you believe they don't let the goats wander around the pen anymore with the guests??  I was SO disappointed!  Now you have to feed them thru the fence.  Oh well, at least we can still start a feeding frenzy with the fish easily enough.

I wore my Keep Calm and Zoo On tee and got lots of compliments on it.  Not so many on my weird expression that Maddy made me do...

Is this an Emu?  Don't remember.  Just when you think you know what an animal is called, you find a plaque that says it's something completely different with the country name origin in the name...  This is probably a Botswanna Burrabrug...

Had to get a photo op with the kangaroo cut out and waited for our turn.

What a day!  And it ended up with a lost wallet and a worn out group of goofballs.  I need to call the zoo when they open today...
Update: wallet was found!!!  Robb on way to pick it up for frantic daughter.

Looks like a great time had by all! My closest zoo doesn't offer camel rides. It does have a bronze gorilla that everyone has to get their picture taken on.

Cool they have camel rides at the Philadelphia zoo too. Or at least they did 20+ years ago when we sued to go. Love the photo of the kids with the kangaroo cut out!

Zoo on my friend!

I think we need to reclassify your life from busy to flat out crazy! A flat tire and a lost wallet in one day, you need more than ibuprofen. Honey, you need a whiskey.
You look so thin too. What are you doing?
Oh and you have the cutest kids and grandbaby! I say that a lot!
