You Ain't Nothin' But A...

Hey!  You knew our Golden, Ellie, was in season... right?  Well, the other 4 males dogs of our house know too.  We are not letting any shenanigans happen this late in the summer because we only do spring puppies around here.  Early Friday morning, the howling started.  Around 3 or 4am.

Oh yikes...

And no Benedryl in the house...

So...

Robb took Duke out to his car at 4am so the rest of the house could sleep just a little longer.  He came in around 6 to get showered up and eat and left Duke in the car.  Duke was being calm at that time.

You see where this is going?  maybe??

I went out to bring Doofus in and found this.

sigh...  I guess Duck tape can seal it up until we get a new panel for the back door...  As I briefly glanced around the car, I didn't notice anything else amiss amidst the bits and pieces of the door strewn around the back seat.  Leon's car seat looked safe.  Covered with dog hair, but in otherwise good condition.

Oh and Dukas had chewed through his leash.  Forgot that bit.

So anyway, I needed to run some errands with Leon before Robb and Ryan met us to drive together to the 2nd parade of the weekend.  I'll be discussing those tomorrow.

Got a call from Robb as soon as I hit the interstate saying that Duke had one more surprise for us.  NOT what you think!  Dubious had chewed through the drivers seat belt!

When it rains....

Robb drove his mom's car instead.

We'll be heading off to the junk yards this week for replacement parts

On the plus side... Leon can now say DUKE!  Not REAL clearly, but you can tell he's trying to mimic what we're saying!  He sounds kind of like "DOOS".

So Saturday afternoon, I pulled out one of my trusty sewing machines, which are good for more than just garment sewing...  and stitched up the seat belt.  We have an adapter for the car.  Good thing too because I couldn't put my hands on any extension cords.  It was also lucky that the chewed up part was located where it was or the doubled up belt wouldn't fit through the doodad that hooks into the whatsit.

Broke the thread many times and I'm sure the tension was wrong.  For the stitching I mean!  Eh, I guess the tension in the car too...  Also sewing while bending over is not good for your back.

I wonder if I can enter this project into the state fair next year?

Sorry but this post made me laugh. Though I have at one time or another been to the point where I wanted to do the same thing to one of my dogs. Though I remember what they did when I confine them in a room last time and that will always change my mind.
Think this episode will do the same for you ;o)

Your blog always makes me feel like my life is so calm! Sorry about the car, but it did make me chuckle!

I wonder if Duke would make a good rug? You could maybe sew a hat out of him or something. See I am a problem solver.
