Weekends Sparkle Like Diamonds!

It was a busy weekend.  But if you've followed my blog for more than more than a month, you already know that that's the norm around here.

The stress was a bit higher than norm for a lot of it unfortunately.  But that's to be aired during my lunch date today.  Not here...

Last week, we discovered that Leon loves Loves LOVES the movie Elf with Will Ferrill.  But not all of it.  Just the opening credits and up to the part where Buddy starts his journey to New York City, then we have to rewind it and watch it from the beginning again.  "Good luck finding your dad Buddy!"  "Thanks Mr. Norwall!"

As soon as he sees the title start, his face lights up like it's the first time he's ever seen it!  again!  He points and tells us things, like LOOK!  Maddy was thrilled to hear this as she has seen this movie probably a hundred times in the past year and it's her absolute favorite movie.  Not just a Christmas time movie!  I think he's going to love the old Claymation types as soon as we can get our hands on them.

I think they're in a box in the garage...

I've been doing more sorting over the weekend and Leon also discovered (thanks to my sorting of toys lately) the Teletubbies!  We have LaLa and Po that if you poke their bellies they talk.  He's been repeating what they say...  Eh Oh!  I'm looking for the Po costume that Maddy wore one year for Halloween.  If it fits, then he might be that this year!

He also discovered the Fruit Ninja game on Robb's Kindle.  They spent literally MINUTES playing this at various times this weekend.  Too cute!

Saturday Meri and I took Leon for a walk to the new park and ball diamond.

He ran with me from home to first and second base before he got distracted because he saw a ball in the outfield.  So he chased the ball around and I had my camera set to sports.

I've got about 50 pictures of him running straight at me with the ball but it missed my foot with mere centimeters to spare.  YIKES that was a fright!

Speaking of ball diamonds, Neil in particular...   Friday or Saturday, one of our neighbors, who I met on AOL online before they moved to town (they started asking me questions about town)...  he posted on FB that he was out in rural Iowa and found a scratched up Neil Diamond Jazz Singer CD about 50 feet from a highway.  He was wondering how angry a person had to be to whip it from their car along that highway.  I had commented that it was most likely a gift from heaven, dropped right there for him to find, since no one in their right mind would throw out a Neil Diamond cd!

Roger commented back that he would have 25 years ago.  So I told him that if his wife didn't want it, he could toss it my way.

So...  the walk back to our house took us past theirs on Saturday.  His wife was outside so we visited for a few minutes getting caught up on our lives.  They used to live closer, around the corner.  But according to my hubs, are inching farther and farther away from us.  A block or two at a time.

Roger came out of the house about that time and when he saw me, he grinned and headed to his truck.  Where he retrieved the Neil Diamond CD and handed it to me!  Wow!  A gift from our Mayor!!

I posted about it as soon as I got home on FB!  And the first comment I got was from my own husband.  "great. now I have another cd to throw out next time I go to rural Calhoun county"

It was pretty scratched up, but I tried it out anyway with a little spit and the hem of my t-shirt.  The car cd player spat it out and said Bad CD.  Robb said, "I told you!"

I need to dig out my cd polisher and I am determined to get the music pulled of it somehow...

Anyway...  It's Monday.  There are piles of things around my office.  2 meetings lined up today.  A lunch date with my therapist (close friend).  and loads more to tell you about news from the weekend, but that can wait until tomorrow!

Oh, it involves sewing!  Not that I did anything this weekend, but look wistfully in the direction of my serger...  But I have some projects that have a time table coming up!  More on that tomorrow.

Today, I have a date with some caffeine.

Hope all is well at your house.
I like Neil Diamond too but not sure I would want a cd that was found on the side of the road. Mainly because I think there is a reason why it was there as in the previous owner threw it out the car window because of all the scratches ;o)
