Feeling Haunted

Friday...  Seems like a month ago! As soon as Maddy & Leah got home from work (YEAH!  She's WORKING on her fall break!?!) we headed to Des Moines to the Living History Farms.  We used to go there every year until the year we decided to stop celebrating Halloween, also known as the dark years where we avoided anything creepy, also known as the HuHot years, where we went out to eat there instead of handing out candy at the house.

BUT with a grandchild who gets so excited at everything he sees, we decided to relent and go a little back to our old ways.  In this case, asking for candy from total strangers at a place that lives in character all the time.

Every year, Living History Farms has trick or treating at every old place in the town.

Horse drawn carriage rides.

Walking around a haunted house.

Roasting marshmallows

Spooky story tellers in the barn and lots and lots of candy.  It was just like old times, but the kids were taller and I could send one of them across the clearing to buy me kettle korn with their own money and not worry about them being kidnapped.

The story teller took, I'm serious...  20 minutes to tell a story that I retold to some friends in less than 2.  But the kids were enthralled in all the mysterious, goofy details!  Well, Leon was.

It gave the rest of them a chance to relax a little out of the wind and eat some of their popcorn or candy.

We went to CiCi's pizza buffet afterwards and had a late late supper before heading home.

Very rarely do I get a photo of just Robb and I.  So here you go.
Don't make fun of my hair or my goofy face.

More tomorrow on our Saturday dos.  My sewing projects will be on Wednesday!  And there is a LOT to report...

So make sure you tune in to hear Grandma say, "Yeowza!!!  I just ran a rotary blade over my finger!!!"

Look like a fun night out with a cute bumble beee :) He really did look like he was enthralled with the story teller.

You and Robb are too cute. And the rest of your family is adorable too, but I think you two love birds have them beat this time.

Love the pictures of the two of you! Too cute!
However if you didn't give out candy, how did you keep from getting egged? ;o)

This looks like a great family time! Our church does "trick or trunk", but I officially have no one who trick-or-treats this year :(
